How to clean this?

How can I get rid of this from a bathroom sink? I think it's general grime and hard water deposits.
We have just bought the house and it was very unloved. I can't afford to replace any bathrooms etc yet.
I've tried barkeepers friend, general clearing products. Diluted bleach. And lots of elbow grease!
Any other ideas?? It looks horrid

I think it is limescale based. It’s tricky when it settles into crevices. Barkeeper’s Friend and elbow grease (the old fashioned kind not the product!) will probably get you there but try adding viakil or similar also?

It is difficult to remove the brown stains from the silicone

waltty · 27/04/2022 11:53

Also I apologise as that is not a solution just a comment , I have tried numerous ways to remove the stain from my silicone , I think ultimately it needs replacing

PierresPotato · 27/04/2022 11:54

I'm surprised bleach didn't shift it. Was it the thick clingy stuff?

Topbird29 · 27/04/2022 11:56

Could try fully soaking a cloth in white vinegar and leaving it on there for a couple of hours. It can sometimes break down the limescale.

Ahhhhhbisto · 27/04/2022 11:56

Vinegar or lemon juice left for a couple of hours. Then come back, rinse and bleach.

I think bleach can’t work yet as it is sitting on top of limescale.

PierresPotato · 27/04/2022 12:04

Ah that makes sense about the limescale.

Thanks so much. Will give them all a go

Also try Coke. It's actually a really strong acid... it might shift it

inappropriateraspberry · 27/04/2022 12:41

A 1 or 2p piece may scrape some of the limescale off.
Any staining left may come off with a magic sponge.

hihellohihello · 27/04/2022 12:52

Killrock is good.

FictionalCharacter · 27/04/2022 12:58

That’s limescale. I fixed the same problem with mine using vinegar. Pour in enough white vinegar to cover, leave to soak for 30 mins, rinse, scrub clean with any normal nice smelling cleaning stuff. Did the trick.

PinkButtercups · 27/04/2022 13:01

Just leave limescae remover in there over night.

PinkButtercups · 27/04/2022 13:01

Limescale*

Anonymousmam · 27/04/2022 13:09

Harpic toilet cleaner. The 100% limescale remover one. Works a treat and no scrubbing involved. Leave for 10 mins then rinse away, if its still there repeat the process.

Justkeeppedaling · 27/04/2022 13:25

White vinegar should do it

LadyOfTheCanyon · 27/04/2022 13:30

This stuff. You just paint it on and leave it for 15 minutes

Just a little update-just left a vinegar soaked cloth on it over night and hey presto. Thanks so much for the advice

Wow, that is impressive

AWOL66 · 28/04/2022 18:10

Viakal is great at removing yellowing on white plastic sinks and destroys limsecale on taps
