Mine are driving me up the wall! Have just spent 1/2 hr cleaning with glass cleaner and they are still covered in what looks like limescale? where the waters run - what can I use to get this off?

cif cream?

tiredemma · 09/01/2008 17:08

'shower shine' by Mr muscle does the trick for me

Vinegar or something with citric acid. Prevention is better - get a microfibre cloth - preferably the kind that is a bit like towelling - and wipe the doors after use

PuppyDogEyes · 09/01/2008 19:23

vinegar diluted in water and a little lemon juice in a spray bottle then wipe with old towel flannel. (good for mirrors too.)

don't use too much vinegar as you don't want the place to stink. Maybe a cap full of V for every 2 cups of water. lemon juice is good for the glass and smell.

or ecloth for glass with no chemicals.
(my local homebase had a pack for £2.50ish on sale, so shop around)

this to get them clean in the first place and then a daily mist with this to keep it under control.

I use 'Method' shower spray (eco friendly), I keep it in the shower with me and spritz the screen, dial and shower head after every shower. I live in a really hard water area, and its magnificent stuff! You can get it in Tescos.

method is really good - i found that too! it is in sainsbury's as well in a clear bottle at an aisle end - and i bought a tiny rubber window cleaning thing from asda for about one pound and it's really working...whisk it over either after you've had a shower or even when it's dried up and you're just running to do somethingelse and you notice it

we are not the most shine-conscious family (to put it mildly) so i would say that i really recommend this product

funnily enough spray furniture polish works wonders on shower screens!

padboz · 13/01/2008 12:31

BUY BATH POWER! I am evangelical about this stuff. Bit pricey but it works brilliantly. and once you've used a bit it can be dilluted - I have two bottles and put half the new one into an old one and top it up with water. Still works brill. Honestly you can squirt the stuff on when you get in the shower, wash yourself and then rinse it off and they gleam like crystal with no wiping. Amazing. I dont work for them B.T.W.

discoverlife · 13/01/2008 12:35

I just wipe the door down with some toilet descaler on a cloth, leave it on for about half an hour then rinse off.

The problem with those 'just spray after your shower' things is that they have to be sprayed after the last shower of the morning - which is DD's. I have ususally left for work by then & if DD spent a couple of minutes spraying the shower she wouldn't have time to straighten her hair properly.....

spugs · 14/01/2008 09:37

scrub it with a brillo pad and then use one of those window cleaner squeege things

StealthPolarBear · 14/01/2008 09:41

Thanks everyone, was going to post about this myself!
