Last one - anodised, cost a small fortune - hasn't lasted long at all.

Any recommendations please?

This thread is a bit old now, but we’ve recently refreshed our best frying pan guide with plenty of high-quality, non-stick pans recommended by Mumsnetters. We hope you find it useful.

Scoville, they are amazing.

Don't discount pans without a non stick coating. I have yet to find anything that sticks to the first pan I posted above and I've been using it for everything for three years.

NotMyFIrstTIme · 06/04/2022 12:32

Another vote for Scoville. I have a couple of their Neverstick and an Ultralift saute pan with lid - well-used (& abused) & going strong.
Asda have offers on some at the moment.

If you really want something that'll last forever, because non-stick coating will, eventually, degrade, you'll need to invest in carbon-steel or cast-iron and be prepared to expend the extra effort seasoning them. I have a carbon steel wok & a cast iron pan which are both excellent and I swear meat & bacon both taste better when cooked in the cast-iron pan;)

We bought a couple from Sainsbury's recently and they're great .... the dearer range with a gold base.

Mollyplop999 · 06/04/2022 12:35

Procook. Expensive but indestructible. I've left it on and food has burnt onto it but always comes up good as new. And you can put it in the oven. (Just don't forget and grab the metal handle like I did. Made a real mess of my hand! )

Scoville are brill and quite often on offer in Dunelm. I've got the big one with 2 handles and the little one for pancakes 🥞

I also have an induction job and they work just fine x

ThreeWiseWomen · 06/04/2022 12:39

We have serving dishes that we use daily and are in the main the same age as our relationship (34 years and counting) so we are not the sort of people that throw money away or for that matter feel the need for the latest of anything, but we long ago made our peace with replacing Tefal frying pans every few years.

LangClegsInSpace · 06/04/2022 12:43

Cast iron. Season it properly at the start and it will last a very long time. Mine's over 30 years old now.

McFuckSake · 06/04/2022 15:14

I love the scoville never stick range and they work with induction too. I have been replacing all of my pans and baking trays with the range when they're half price. Asda often do them at half price.

I've got a basic set put away for dd when she starts uni.

All our pans are Woll . The saucepans just go on forever , We have a big 28cm saute pan that's too big for us and sadly doesn't get used much , however we love our 24cm saute pan and after many years of use have a new one coming on Friday. We also have a 24cm Diamond Lite frypan and that's very good as well.

Sadly not my experience with mine. I've had to throw away most of my non stick pans and the handles on the lids of some of them have come lose, one came off. I contacted them as they offer a 25 year warranty but they said because I used them on a high heat I had invalidated it and they wouldn't replace them. I don't remember at the time there being any info on not using them on a high heat, but they have that info on their website now.

My favourite non stick pan is a very old cast iron one, seasoned very well so most things don't stick. It is heavy and I find it's hard on my wrists. I would love something as good just a bit lighter.

Asda do a range of frying pans and woks called Scoville . They are fantastic and are great prices

Ariela · 07/04/2022 18:29

@amazonianwoman

Thanks all again.

It's a toss up between a new cheap and cheerful Tefal for just over £20, given old one far outlasted my v v expensive most recent disaster, or a Ninja for £50. Too scared to spend close to £100 on a Woll if it doesn't last!

I can assure you my WOLL has been the most cost effective ever, over 7 years old and still works just like new.

On sale at the moment too. I'm debating a frying pan now.

Ooh, lots more posts, thanks everyone Smile

After reading too much about non-stick coatings and potential health risks, and suspecting that no non-stick coatings last forever (unlike my 'normal' John Lewis stainless steel pans and my cast iron Le Creuset pots + my cast iron copies, which will all prob outlive me), I dug out an old cast iron frying pan and re-seasoned it. Then made Thai salmon fish cakes, which didn't stick! Heavy, but it works.

Sometimes you just need high heat, and high heat + induction + non-stick seems to be ultimately a recipe for disaster. Plus other family members who prob whack up the heat and use metal utensils Angry

Have just ordered a good quality carbon steel frying pan. Need to season it, but no non-stick coatings to worry about Grin

What pan did you go for OP?

amazonianwoman · 19/05/2022 23:26

Sorry Praisebee didn't see your message. I bought a De Buyer mineral pro-B (I think) 28cm carbon steel frying pan.
