Dishwasher proof oven trays.. do they exist?

If so... please recommend! I replace my oven trays/ baking trays about once a year they are so battered. I'd really like to not have to scrub them to death and just bung them in the dishwasher but this inevitably results in rust.

Covering them in foil/ using the pink stuff doesn't keep them clean or shift the grease/ burnt on food.

What am I doing wrong here!?

Pay a lot more to start with. I have 15 year old ones from Lakeland, used most days and go in the dishwasher. Heavy duty non stick. They were £20 back then so no cheap but have lasted well, they not as non stick now

WhatNowwwww · 12/03/2022 12:36

I have some Pyrex ones that are great, just chuck them in the dishwasher and they come out like new 95% of the time and even when they don’t they’re always easy to clean the last bit off in the sink.

Findingneeemo · 12/03/2022 12:38

I have prestige ones from their website (I bought a set in the sale) about 5 years ago. We never use metal scourers on them, just the rough bit on a kitchen sponge. They go in the dishwasher all the time.
I also have a couple if línea ones over 10 years old and they are both Okay too.

yorkshireteaspoonie · 12/03/2022 12:40

I was thinking paying more might be worth the outlay but then didn't want to spend £££ then Ruin them also! Perhaps a cooler dishwasher cycle to preserve the non stick element? I always go with higher temp assuming this will shift the grease better

Get stainless steel. They’re brilliant (literally, haha) and practically indestructible. Anything burnt on can safely be scoured off.

Casheeeew · 12/03/2022 12:58

I second Pyrex glass ones. Pop it in the dishwasher. Mine is great and when it starts staining brown I use bar keepers friend.

Dfg15 · 12/03/2022 13:00

I've got the ones GiantKitten linked to on Amazon - they are amazing!

yorkshireteaspoonie · 12/03/2022 13:50

Thanks everyone! Think I'll give the stainless steel a go 👍🏽

Can recommend stainless roasters too.
IKEA do 3 different sizes and they nest perfectly

I’m also in the stainless steel trays camp. I’ve got one that’s about 15 years old and you’d never know it wasn’t the same age as the newest ones.

Useranon1 · 12/03/2022 14:11

Lakeland do a dishwasher safe range which are excellent

Does stuff stick to them?
cunningartificer · 12/03/2022 14:36

I bought three trays from Sainsbury in their 'one up from the really cheap range' iyswim after I got really annoyed with trying to clean my old oven trays. Initially I thought they'd do for Christmas etc and I could bin (recycle) them if they were a disaster as they didn't cost much. They're non stick and have survived the dishwasher perfectly! Really light and paleish gray colour, so easy to clean and so cheap, I'm genuinely impressed with them.

ScreamIntoTheWind · 12/03/2022 14:37

I use silicone mats (or greaseproof paper) if I’m worried about sticking. It’s less if an issue than you’d imagine though.

I find supposedly non stick trays much worse really.

DespairingHomeowner · 12/03/2022 16:09

I use greaseproof paper (& sometimes use it a couple of times) so hand washing is less of a pain

Every tray I put in the DW rusts so this is better for me

EdHelpPls · 12/03/2022 16:43

I bought scoville neverstick trays because they don't have that lip/rim around the edges that hold water. They've been used nearly daily for 2 years and holding up well. I do put them in dishwasher but tbh it's also really easy to clean by hand.

yorkshireteaspoonie · 12/03/2022 16:55

@ScreamIntoTheWind any particular silicone mats you would recommend?

SummerOfComedy · 12/03/2022 17:05

I purchased the hard anodised none stick baking tray and shallow roasting pan from Lakeland.
Nearly £70 for the two but are still as good as new (with plenty of use) 4 years on.

I don't think it does much good to the surface to put them in the dishwasher so I never do. They're a breeze to clean anyway.

I just got a set off Amazon. They’re fine. I think silicone mats are much the same generally.

WhatNowwwww · 13/03/2022 17:35

I have stainless as well as the Pyrex ones and I find things stick to them. I should start using grease proof paper on them by the sound of it.

These are the cats meow, imo.

Sgtmajormummy · 13/03/2022 17:40

Choose enamel rather than non stick coating. There’s something in DW tablets that gets under coating and it just slides off, making them useless.
LIDL regularly has them and they’re good value.

Pyrex - bought one on a whim when they were on sale at Ocado, quickly added another and now use them every other day or so. Clean up perfectly in the dishwasher.
