Scratched New Hob so disappointed!

I am really disappointed. Have just completed a kitchen refit and bought a lovely shiny Zanussi ceramic hob.Have used it 5 times only with brand new pans and it's terribly scratched. Why? Can't figure out why it's getting ruined. I have cleaned it with ceramic cleaner and soft cloth, nothing abrasive and checked pans and they are fine. Is this usual for ceramic hobs in or am I doing something wrong?

They are a little sensitive to scratching but scratches you can't buff out aren't normal.
I would double check the pans, something is causing the scratches.

I’d give Zanussi a call. That doesn’t sound right.

Oblomov22 · 22/02/2022 16:35

This is not right. We have had ours over a year and no scratches.

I have an induction hob, not got any scratches had it about 6mths, we are not particularly precious with it.

The first scratch is the deepest

I phoned today and was told to order a Minky scraper. Was told that will work. Can't see how but I'll try it and if not will phone again.

The scraper works if it is burnt on stuff but not scratches.
Do you have a photo OP?

Are they definitely scratches? Sometimes mine goes like that and I use hobbrite and the marks go away.

Guineapigssweak · 22/02/2022 19:14

Have cleaned many times with Hobbrite then buffed and buffed again and alas still there.

That doesn't look scratched from your pics? I'd try the scrapper - very much according to instructions and not over your white lines

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 22/02/2022 19:30

I always thought my ceramic hob was getting scratched repeatedly until the oven cleaner man came the first time and scraped most of them away with that knife (bought one myself now) He said it’s water/cleaner being burnt dry on hob - only takes a few drops. Try the knife at a deep angle. If it’s not that then you might have another issue. I was shocked how easy it was to get off after trying all the cleaning products.

Guineapigssweak · 22/02/2022 20:02

Thank you all.

I'm inclined to agree that they may be deposits rather than scratches. I would use the glass scraper then buff with cream.

NutsOhHazelnuts · 26/02/2022 17:27

Minky / glass scraper should work.
