Chairs with hairy feet

Am I the only one who suffers with chairs with hairy feet?

Those pads we put on them to stop the floor scratching attract and store all the dirt and dust (of which, in my home, there is of course lots and lots )

I also have a sofa with dirty arms but that is another story.....

Know exactly what you mean. Had visitors recently and needed to bring some chairs from dining room in to the carpeted sitting room. Bloody things left big patches of dust in the middle of my newly vaccumed floor, and killed the illusion that I am a perfect housewife.

yes

hairy feet here as well

I get henry hoover to suck them off

grannyslippers · 02/01/2008 20:15

Yes, we have that as well. Try a baby wipe when you clean the floor?

Curse of hard floors is that all the yuk that would have sunk into the carpet, gathers more visibly on chair feet, rugs, in corners etc.

snooks · 02/01/2008 20:17

lol at ggirl

sometimes I find just one hairy foot on an (obviously) 4-legged chair. WTF's that all about then?

rantinghousewife · 02/01/2008 20:18

I'm all agog at you lot with your hairy feet!!

DoubleBluff · 02/01/2008 20:19

Another hairy footed house here!
LOL!!

Washersaurus · 02/01/2008 20:34

When I have the time/inclination I turn the chair upside down on the table (like we used to at primary school) and wipe the feet with a damp cloth, but I have to let them dry before putting back on the floor or they end up leaving dusty footprints.

I shudder to think how grim my house would be if it were all carpeted.

Oh yes, we have majorly hairy feet here. In fact, I have not long ago removed the anti-floor-scratch pads as I would rather have scratched floorboards than hairy feet!!

BroccoliSpears · 02/01/2008 21:19

My kitchen chair legs are rather hirsuit.

Once we had friends around and they noticed our clever pads on the bottom of the chair legs and turned a chair upsidedown to have a look... I could have died!!

onepieceoflollipop · 02/01/2008 21:21

Same as ggirl. Tip - use Henry on the low setting otherwise if the pads are a bit loose they get sucked up the vacuum! (our pads were obviously cheapo ones)

Washersaurus · 02/01/2008 21:25

Hippi - I was considering removing the pads too. DS1 has now scratched the floor to buggary anyway with various toys and games, so it seems pointless trying to protect it from the dining chairs (especially when it means more work for me with cleaning )

And I don't have a Henry, I have a dyson and it doesn't always successfully remove these hairy bits

Yep, hairy feet here, too. Thought it was just us - illogical, I know, but we have a hairy dog. No solution other than manual removal of offending fluff. Dyson doesn't do it.

Scramble · 02/01/2008 23:49

Hairy feet too, hovver every now and then

PinkPussyCat · 03/01/2008 09:03

Yes I am with you on the hairy chair feet! I just tilt them a wee bit and point the hoover nozzle at them. It comes back in no time though!
