....everytime I look at it, never mind go anywhere near it.

When can I take it down without fear of another year of more doom and gloom?

i meant lob it into the recycling thingy

I wouldn't have thought a realy tree was very environmentally friendly ANYWAY mrs

I have decorated a large penguin, to be reused every year

Rosa · 02/01/2008 14:33

Get a big sheet and drap round base and then tie it underneath. Then get help and bring it up over the branches. It will catch some of the needles.
Next year sit the bucket in the middle of a double duvet case when you put it up and cover with pretty cover and when you have to move tree just bring the sides up.

Ours is coming down probably Friday as needles are still on brnaches and dd still loves it !

Washersaurus · 02/01/2008 14:33

Of course said tree will be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner

Well, what's left of it by the time we have moved it that is. Most of it seems to be whirling around the dyson at the moment.

Ours went yesterday!

brimfull · 02/01/2008 14:35

ours was slung out on the 28th !

Washersaurus · 02/01/2008 14:38

Of course a real tree is more environmentally friendly than a plastic one, as it is grown especially for the season over 2/3 years.

It was special this year as was cut from a welsh mountain side and delivered to me by my younger brother who is a trainee gamekeeper and general country-type

I told you, I have a large penguin, not a placky tree

SantaBeClausImWorthIt · 02/01/2008 14:40

Thankfully our local council collects Christmas trees, then they chip/shred them and use them on the council gardens.

Washersaurus · 02/01/2008 14:40

How does Father Christmas fit all your presents under a penguin may I ask

OP posts:
MamaG · 02/01/2008 14:46

Oh the penguin has an assistant, wearing a large fleece, and they put the presents unde th epenguin's bum and the fleece

Cappuccino · 02/01/2008 14:48

oh shut up about the farking penguin

that picture upset me so much I went and lost a stone

Washersaurus · 02/01/2008 14:49

Ingenious! As long as it is not real penguin

OP posts:
MamaG · 02/01/2008 14:49

no way

you looked FINE, really you did. I still have the pic

i loved that penguin and anyway, you started it

Cappuccino · 02/01/2008 14:50

did you drive down to Kings Lynn and nick it from that hospital?

MamaG · 02/01/2008 14:50

yes

Cappuccino · 02/01/2008 14:53

you were the only person in the country that wanted it

even the bloke who won it had to phone every hospital in Britain to offload it

be careful what you buy raffle tickets for

MamaG · 02/01/2008 14:53

...although it terrified me when I thought it was a penguin costume
