How do you clean the tiny awkward corners/edges

We’ve recently had some work done which has involved plastering and sanding, and dust has settled into every crevice. It’s really obvious around out around white windows, doors and woodwork. I’ve tried hoovering and a few different sprays, but I just can’t get into the gaps with any cloths or brushes. Plus I have to be careful to not scuff the other surfaces.

The only thing I can think of is to use earbuds with a cleaning solution but I dread to think how long it would take, if it would even work! Am I missing an obvious solution?

I use toothbrushes quite a lot. Or a soft cleaning brush.

ClaudiaWankleman · 16/02/2022 15:07

Brush it out of the nooks and crannies and then hoover it up. Alternatively use the long hoover nozzle if the suction is strong enough.

I've never met a crevice a wet toothbrush can't clean

uncomfortablydumb53 · 16/02/2022 15:15

I use a toothbrush( toothpaste can be useful for cleaning too!)

Libertynan · 16/02/2022 15:19

Yes a small headed soft toothbrush can work wonders.

PureBlackVoid · 16/02/2022 15:42

Toothbrush! Can’t believe I didn’t think of that, thanks all

I use old toothbrushes for this.
A skewer with a cloth over the end can be useful too

WhoppingBigBackside · 17/02/2022 20:00

A wooden skewer, sorry.

My Polti steam cleaner. It has a little nozzle attachment that is brilliant at cleaning all the cracks and crevices in the upvc windows. The pressure can be adjusted for more delicate use. I use it to clean the gunk from around the dishwater door, the hinges on the toilets and the shower. I am about to use it for the corners in the tiled kitchen floor which, although regularly mopped, needs a good cleaning every now and again. A couple of times a year I steam the painted internal doors and wipe over with a tea towel. So easy and quick. Also good for steaming painted walls. Without the little nozzle you can steam window panes and glass and just wipe for a streak free finish.

Get one of those radiator dusters, that'll probably work.
ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 23/02/2022 03:45

Lakeland has all sorts of cleaning stuff for awkward places

Workinghardeveryday · 23/02/2022 08:48

I actually have a radiator duster!! Can’t believe I didn’t think of that!! - thanks

Will have a look in Lakeland too 😊

Using4532 · 23/02/2022 12:42

A Flatmate duster from Lakeland will get down the side of stuff and attract the dirt, then put in washing machine

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 25/02/2022 10:18

Old toothbrushes. Maybe a dampened cocktail stick for any really tiny crevices.

BigSkies22 · 25/02/2022 14:05

Also, have you tried blowing the dust out into the open with a hairdrier? Flush the bastard out where it's vulnerable!

Mmm, radiator duster...will have a look at the Lakeland site.

BigSkies22 · 25/02/2022 14:09

And a second vote for (careful) use of a hand-held steam cleaner.

I am putting off my own chores, can you tell?

Sunnysidegold · 06/03/2022 11:57

One of those compressed air sprays you get for cleaning computer keyboards and stuff should get anything that is dry that a toothbrush can't shift.
