Cleaning musty smells

We came back from a skiing holiday a couple of years ago and washed the gear but during our house move it was all packed away and shoved in a bag in the cellar in the new house.

Now that we’ve come to get some of the bits my leather ski gloves smell really musty and I don’t really want to put my hands in them.

I can’t wash them in the machine because of the leather outer (inner material is polyester) so I thought that perhaps I could spray some sort of solution in there and dry them out.

As for the rest of the gear like the neck tubes etc I thought I could just let them air out and then put them through a normal wash cycle perhaps at 60 degrees.

Any thoughts?

Baking powder is good for absorbing odours.

If you don’t want to sprinkle some in the fingers, maybe try putting the gloves in a big bag with a dish of baking powder in & leaving it for a couple of days.
