Condensation and Mould help!

Looking for suggestion to help get rid of overnight condensation on my windows. It only happens on the living room and bedroom window at the front of the house during the night. I don't dry clothes in these rooms. I've noticed when I'm out walking my dog before work in the mornings that not one single other house seems to have this problem. I've tried the cat litter on the windowsill trick...doesn't work. I've got a large electric dehumidifier which I run in the mornings after I get up, too noisy to have on during the night. I have to wipe puddles off my windowsills evey morning. The mould is ruining my wooden blinds. I leave my windows open to air the house during the day. What's everyone else doing to wake up to condensation free windows that im missing. I don't see any wee dehumidifiers on their windowsills or anything. I noticed this morning that the plaster around the windows was damp aswell. I got new windows in last winter and hoped that would help but its just the same.

Have you a pipe that's leaking against the wall? That caused something similar in our house. Once the pipe was fixed the wall dried out. Been two years and we still haven't fixed the paintwork though 🙄.

We have a karcher window vac that is handy for sucking up the condensation every morning. While it won't fix the problem it may prevent some of the dampness.

We got a dehumidifier too which worked wonders but I see you already have one.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. No pipes near the windows. I've seen a few people recommended the karcher window vac. Looks like I'll need to invest in one of those, or maybe look for a small single use dehumidifier to put on the windowsills.

The window vacs are a good piece of kit, I have a Vileda one. Makes mincemeat of general window cleaning too.

For the damp/mould I had a positive ventilation system fitted. Last resort and a bit costly but damp was a whole house problem and almost a year later it seems to be drying out.

Spray that with white vinegar, wipe gently (pat it off) and it should disappear Smile
