Best way to clean white pvc?

Redlorryyellowduck · 05/02/2022 08:03

My house is a mass of white pvc windows and doors. They are reaching the end of their days, maybe have a few years left, and just look so scruffy. They are stained and marked, I've tried bleach, cleaning wipes....am I missing a trick?

I wanted to paint my white pvc door black but the painter said you'd be able to see the brush strokes and it wouldn't last. Looks like I'll need a new door thenHmm

Your can buy UPVC cleaner. I bought some Thompson's (Thomson's?) UPVC cleaner and it gave my windows a new lease of life. You do need elbow grease, but it's good stuff.

Flash spray with bleach ? I use upvc cleaner on the outside and it comes up very well, screwfix sell big bottles.

Justathought2016 · 05/02/2022 08:17

You can have them spray painted. I’ve seen lots of companies advertising this recently but I’ve never actually seen it done. Worth investigating before buying new doors or windows though.

I’ve seen people on TikTok painting UPVC doors and they looked good.

Yep, that's the one. I paid £9.99 for that about 3 years ago.

I've had good success with the Flash magic sponge.

BeetyAxe · 05/02/2022 08:37

Yes the flash sponge is very good.

Redlorryyellowduck · 05/02/2022 09:11

Thank you all, I'll try the spray with a magic sponge, they'll be gleaming Grin.
I'm not looking to change them for purely cosmetic reasons, they're about 20 years old so not so efficient anymore, so I won't spend time or money tarting them up. A neighbour of mine did though, and her door looks really smart.

I've seen them paint them on utube as well but nobody's giving me good advice on how to get it done their just all telling me not to do it!

Helenbackagain3 · 07/02/2022 01:40

Definitely magic sponges. You can buy in bulk off Amazon / eBay - sometimes Aldi do them. Far cheaper than the flash ones. I’ve also just discovered ‘elbow grease’ spray. £1 from Amazon,
