Roomba - is it worth it?

Hi,

Cleaners are hard to find round my way so am thinking about getting a robot vacuum - work full time and have kids so there always seem to be dirt! Are they worth it, in general, and are the Roombas worth the price tag? I’m after:

  • reasonable dirt capacity (or a self-emptying one)
  • decent battery life and battery longevity - don’t want one that’s useless after 8 months like my cordless dyson
  • good suction (obvuously!)
  • no mop - prefer proper mopping the old fashioned way, with lots of rinsing of the mop. Don’t want to pay for the function or have reservoir space wasted.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I bought a Eufy Robovac a year ago when it was discounted. I'd read some really good reviews, but I was surprised by how good it was. And horrified by how much cat hair was hiding in our bedroom carpet (that the dyson animal failed to pick up). We have him set on a timer now, he goes round after my morning meetings have finished, and I empty him the following morning. Twice a week I send him round upstairs too.

I do still have to get into the corners, and do the stairs, with my little handheld, but other than that, I don't vacuum anymore. I don't need to.

Seriously tempted to by the one with the mop too, move our current Eufy upstairs, and run them both daily.

We have the Eufy G30. I chose it out of the different eufy models because I wanted one that cleaned in an orderly grid pattern, not bouncing randomly. I love it, and it has made a massive difference to how clean my house is. However, we have 2 long haired dogs so
I ring I have to empty it halfway round the downstairs. So, next time (and I will want to replace it if it ever dies) I would probably go for a self emptying one.

I have a basic Eufy. Runs every night. Just empty it every other day. Agree I need to do corners and stairs. It’s amazing how much dust it picks up. Well worth it. Cost less than £150

Some good buying advice in this video from Lords Electrical:

Ooh thanks op I had no idea you could get a mop one too!

We’ve got the mop one. It’s good, but I would suggest making sure the floor is properly cleaned first as it’s more like a wipe over with a damp cloth.

I love my roomba and use it daily.

Eufy- and yes soooooo worth it Grin

HalfWomanHalfChocolate · 01/02/2022 20:37

Right, I’m defo going to get one. As soon as I e chosen.

I should have thought: other criteria is that it should roughly go up and down /map the space. I’m not as keen on the ‘random walk’ ones.

Interesting that people are still really happy with the cheaper ones, that’s good to know.
