Oil stains on wood floor

We have wood flooring throughout our whole flat (except bathrooms). It looks great apart from in the kitchen which is covered in oil/food stains. As soon as anything drops on it we clean it up but it still always leaves a mark. I’m not sure what type of flooring it is. It was here when we moved in. It’s definitely not varnished but it must have some sort of wax or sealant on it.

Does anyone have any magic tricks to help remove or reduce the appearance of these? Or any tips to prevent them?

I’ve tried to take a photo but they don’t show up as clearly as they actually do.

This is why we are going to change our floor! We've wood everywhere in the house and it's such a pain in the kitchen, a tub of cream fell out of the fridge and you can imagine the stain 🙄.

I've not found anything to get rid of fat stains, I've resigned myself to having an awful looking floor until we can change it!!

Following with interest to see if there are any tips

Oooo I'd like to know too - I have a rug down in the kitchen but there is a grease stain that I can't get out.
Maybe sand it back and varnish it to protect from future spills? I haven't done that as the wood covers the whole ground floor and it would be a nightmare.

Oh well at least I am not alone. We are renting, I would never put this type of flooring in the kitchen of a rental! If we owned it I would be more inclined to spend money on sorting it but we don’t plan on moving so I still want to keep it nice. Having a messy eating toddler doesn’t help, we keep putting bigger and bigger mats under his chair.

So this morning I put some neat washing up liquid on one of the worst ones and left it for a hour or so. Initially it created an even worse mark but once it dried off I think it is better.

It really is a ridiculous flooring for kitchen! Glad the washing up liquid worked, I'm just resigning myself to an awful looking floor until we can afford to redo the kitchen!
