Currently pregnant with baby no.1 & I really want to do some batch cooking for the freezer. Problem is I’m really not a great cook!!!

I do basics and we have a fairly set meal routine; spaghetti bolognaise, risotto, fajitas, lasagne, fish & veg… nothing very exciting! I am very very bored of it. I struggle to think of ‘new’ meals that I really fancy or that I think DH would love. I do make from scratch; no ready meals although occasional sauces from jar but rare.

I’ve never really cooked for the freezer before so im interested in what you have in your freezer that freezes well??

-what are your ‘go to’ meals?
-anything you make for your freezer that goes down well?

  • If you’ve filled your freezer in anticipation of baby arriving, what did you make?

Please inspire me! Xox

I make a tomato sauce and split into different sized batches - use it to make meatball subs, pasta with tomato and mozzarella, breaded chicken with sauce.

I also like chicken stock in the freezer - great to make a quick chicken noodle soup or have with filled pasta/spinach.

I also make stews/mice - can serve as is, or make into a pie.

Not freezing, but we get a good few days out of a gammon joint. Stick it in the slow cooker, make nigellas ham, cream and pea pasta, or ham, mash & cabbage, or with chips and egg.

Have a look in the sub forum “feed the world”, lots of recipes. Also you may want to move this thread there

Sadly our freezer is tiny, and currently filled with things for the one year old. But freezer staples used to be - chili, lasagna, curry, bolognese. None of it terribly exciting but all favourites
