How do you get the insides of your reusable bottles dry?

Boring question but - kids have reusable plastic water bottles which are quite narrow and long (the cheap ones from ikea). I cannot get a cloth in to dry them. They don't dry if left in the dish rack for hours like other Tupperware type items do. How do I get them dry?

Stand them on the radiator?

My house is quite cold, but my sodastream bottles dry ok if I leave them upside down to drain, then turn them right way up to let the remaining condensation out.

Anything that won't dry goes on the radiator for a bit.

Do you have an airing cupboard?
Hair dryer?!

GiltEdges · 20/12/2021 08:52

I'm embarrassed to admit I hairdryer mine 😳

WaterBottle123 · 20/12/2021 08:59

Why do they need to dry? They just go back into service the next day!

Great ideas! Will put in radiator now. Thanks

It's sooo annoying. Especially in the hols when they aren't used so much, but I can't put the damn things away in the cupboard while they're damp so they end up sitting in the side and laughing at me, bastards.

Hope radiator will conquer them Grin

Are you leaving them upside down in the dish rack?

If so that's the issue!

Leave them somewhere the right way up so the opening is at the top. Water evaporates upwards.

Mine dry upside down in the drying rack.
Then I put them in the cupboard without the lid on. I find they smell if you store them with lids on.

waterbottle

My dc lose bottles a lot so I got lots of the cheap ikea ones. Now when one comes home saying they've lost their bottle I can whip another one out, and usually the list one makes it's way back eventually, so even during term time I need to wash dry and store them sadly.

Weird!

Tbh I wouldn't worry and just put them away. It will evaporate eventually and it's not going to do any harm.

You could always blast it with a hairdryer though I guess!

I find that they smell funny if I store them not completely dry - even with lids off. Hope radiator does the trick. It's so annoying.

Kitchen paper wrapped round a skewer!

BewareTheRedNosedDragon · 20/12/2021 09:13

Ah - that might work!

Similar to @CherryAndAlmond I use some tongs with kitchen paper or a thin cleaning cloth wrapped around.
