Drum clean on Samsung eco bubble washing machine has flooded my kitchen!

Just looking for some advice as the homeserve plumber can’t come until the 29th December and I don’t want to be without a washing machine until then! The machine was fitted by John Lewis 5 weeks ago so I’ll be contacting them tomorrow as well.

I used the drum clean setting for the first time at about midday, it’s a 2.5 hour cycle and there was a LOT of water in the machine. Then this evening DP noticed water coming up between the vinyl tiles on the kitchen floor, next to the washing machine.

There is no water in the under sink cupboard or by the fridge so we’re pretty sure it’s the washing machine. We have only been in the property for 5 weeks too!

Does this sound like a washing machine issue and has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks in advance

Sounds like a plumbing issue. Have never had this happen when using the drum clean function

I agree - John Lewis abs Samsung were useless so we’re hoping to get a plumber out soon! Thanks for replying Smile

Whoever John Lewis supplied to fit it is at fault. Sounds like they didn't tighten the joints properly and they have vibrated loose over time. It won't be the cleaning cycle, just normal washing machine vibrations.

Something similar happened to us as well, though different washing machine (Bosch). What happened is that the foam and some water escaped through the detergent drawer and it looked as if it flooded but didn’t really. Works fine ever since. Next time I’m halving the cleaning liquid. HTH.

John Lewis said that it wasn’t their problem as the machine was fine when they installed it, and Samsung said that they couldn’t guarantee it was a problem with the machine and not the pipe it was connecting to so neither wanted to know!

I called the plumber my parents use and he’s coming in an hour or so, hopefully he’ll be able to fix it as the kitchen floor is soaking and the tiles are very squelchy underfoot!

Good luck!!

Take some videos of what is wrong. If you paid JL to fit the machine and it has been fitted incorrectly then surely you have a claim against them? At the very least you should get a refund of any cost paid for fitting.

We had the same machine and this happened to us. But after we had had it for a couple of years and using the drum clean regularly without issue. We never did discoverer what the problem was - we just stopped cleaning the drum. 🤷‍♀️

What a day!

It was nothing to do with the washing machine in the end, but a leak from the external, live side of the mains pipe. We were able to turn the supply off eventually and our plumber fixed the leak - floor is slowly drying out now and I am washing all the towels we used to soak the water up. The plumber only charged us £120 cash and I am delighted with that Smile

Thanks for all the replies xx

I presume you've contacted john lewis and samsung to apolgise

TashieWoo · 18/12/2021 20:29

It was after hours by the time the plumber had finished, plus DP was in no way rude to them, he just accepted what they said so I don’t think we need to call them - the fault wasn’t logged and I doubt they’ll be losing sleep over it.

Ahh fair enough just you were slagging them off on here saying they were useless and did't want to know.
