I am looking for a dehumidifier and there are so many different ones to choose from I just don’t know which one to buy. It’s for a three bed house. Could someone please recommend one to me.

I've got a meaco arete one 25l. Tis awesome - I did lots of research and I'm really happy with my choice (has a 5 year guarantee as well!)

I’ve just bought a meaco Zambezi. I wanted a desiccant one (as it works in cold rooms as well as warm) and they do 3, this one and the non digital version are both Which best buys

Can I ask? Where do you put a dehumidifier if you have condensation in separate rooms, bathroom, conservatory and bedrooms? Sorry to jump on.

I just bought a Meaco one too. Mine is 12l low energy.
It was a bit more expensive but had the best reviews. I'm hoping we'll save money on the energy consumption.
It's already collected 2.4l in 12 hours from our 2 bed house!

We have an Ebac one think ours is a 12l it's a few years old now but still working well. We empty the tank every few days. We generally have it located on the landing, moving it into the bathroom and one of the bedrooms quite often.

Meaco. Junior. I now have 3 of them in my cold old house. One on each floor.

MauveMavis · 15/12/2021 19:14

Meaco DDL8 Junior here. Works well.

I did a lot of research too and bought a Meaco. The website should advise what size you need.
If you chose a different make be careful it's not too noisy.

Thank you very much for all. You made it so much easier for me.😀

Just bought the Meaco ABC 12l. I have quite a large 4 bed house but it is not damp. I mostly wanted it for helping dry washing in my utility or for putting in the lounge when I wash the carpets/sofa.

I did a lot of research and EBAC and Meaco are the top players in the UK. Ebac are pretty bitter that Meaco got the Which best buys (check out their website).

I called Meaco to query the difference between the low energy ABC and standard and they told me that it is mostly that the low energy has an optional HEPA filter. I think it has a very slightly lower consumption but they are both low energy.

Ebac seemed very similar in performance but has its water tank at the front and it is designed with a carry handle and a pouring function which could be useful. Theres also has a carbon filter option (HEPA filters catch allergens, carbon filters catch smells).

In the end I thought the Meaco looked tidier so went for it. Very pleased with it. Just vax shampooed my sofas and the drying time has been drastically reduced. It also makes a huge difference to laundry drying times.

My downstairs doesn't seem to have much residual damp so I don't think I need to run it unless for a specific purpose.

To the person who asked, the advice ia to leave them in a hallway or landing and leave your internal doors open and let it run continuously. It has a humidstat so turns itself on and off depending on the humidity in the room.

Can I ask those who run a dehumidifier- did it make the mould worse before it got better?

We’ve bought a Meaco as our bedroom is damp and showing signs of mould on the two external walls (the coldest!). We have ran it for 24 hours and I swear the mould spots have grown and spread. Maybe it is drawing the condensation out of the walls?! I was hoping running it would reduce the mould in the whole house (1980s brick but Cornish weather!). Thanks all.
