Calling Roomba owners - having just become the proud owner of a roomba i just have a query hopefully one of you established users can answer!! I heart my roomba already but wondering if I leave it to its own devices would it really cover more than one room if i left the doors open or just end up not doing one room and staying in the other? i know, i know , get a life and all that but was thinking it may be better to just do one room at a time? TIA !!!

I was given a roomba last week - it was the only one they had in John Lewis so not top of the range but I already heart it I have been putting him (mine's male too) into one room in the morning, then recharging, and then another room in the evening. Dh is already talking about getting another one with recharging base, scheduler etc.

I've got one for my mum as a christmas present (as yet untried) and I;ve got a scooba for me also as a christmas present and omg he's marvellous, the cat's not keen tho

SausageButtyMonster · 26/12/2007 20:02

I love mine so much.
His name is Jeff and is a roomba silver (i think). I got it off ideal world with an extra battery and filters.
I wanted one for ages and they gave you a 30 days money back so we thought what do we have to lose.
BUT he will not be going anywhere.

Oh no Jura! That is Not Good.
Am no help as have only had my Scooba for 5 days, but you have a warranty with that one don't you? It's likely to be invalidated if you try to fix him up yourself I would have thought.

Millarkie · 29/12/2007 21:21

If his brushes are clean they can't be turning so looks like open-motor surgery (strange if he is still making the same noises as usual) - Good luck Jura, hope he recovers soon.

I must be the only one to have made the decision that these robotic vacuums are a waste of space. As my OH works in the industry i have had 3 of these so far as he gets to test the new models as they come out and i havent been impressed by any of them yet. They dont do corners and all they are good for is a quick going over i find it far quicker and quieter to get my faithful Sebo out and do it myself. The Sebo is less hassell, quieter, more efficient, better quality etc etc than any roomba or equivalent that i have tested. Sorry but i dont rate them they are fine for a quick going over when you are out but nothing beats the good old vacuum cleaner. I'll duck now each to their own i say, my own being the Sebo or Miele vacuum cleaner.

I'm glad he's recovered Jura.

And yes - it's not about having a 'thorough' clean in my house - it's about having 'some' cleaning done without fuss or hassle and not hands-on. I work 5 days a week and don't want to spend my time at home pushing a hoover about every couple of days. I don't mind getting my proper hoover out to do any nooks and crannies (and stairs ) once in a while, but whilst I can put roomba in the hallway to eat the mud regularly I can have the impression of a clean house at least

FlorenceFarkingNightingale · 03/01/2008 17:35

Yay Jura! (tis CSWS btw)

Eliza2 · 03/01/2008 17:44

Yeah--for me it's a morale thing. Having carpets that look clean makes our whole house look a bit better.

SausageButtyMonster · 08/01/2008 14:07

Well Jeff has had to go back as his beep had died. Sometimes he just sounded like he was dying and others no beep at all

Olipop · 12/01/2008 08:56

I just picked up on this thread - got a roomba for christmas and absolutely love it..
I was looking into the floor washing ones (scooba?) can anyone give any advice on them? I know you can't get them in the UK but I'm getting longings for one!

BabyBuftersNappies · 12/01/2008 09:49

I have order a scooba from the US last week...I will let you know when it arrives
