I'm in a rented house that has been badly converted. It's built into a bank and the walls are blocks of slate that have been rendered. The landlord has poured a floor of concrete without a trap or small drainage grill to let the water run away when it rains heavily and the water table rises.
I found the other day that a thick leather photo album of dd's baby pictures is going mouldy, as well as other things such as linen-covered books. The landlord insists that his crappy mdf shelving isn't stored in the cellar as it's too humid, but my folio society books and course notes don't apparently matter, at all.
I'm trying to get them into the house, but am wondering how/if I can save the linen covers of the ones damaged. The other part ofcthe cellar with a beaten earth floor is ok, as it can just drain away (eventually).
Thanks
