How much is your monthly direct debit and how big is your house? Also, is it terraced/semi/detached?

We are currently paying just short of £200/month for a two bed semi and it seems.... a lot.

Bulb Vari-fair rate, so I suppose - given the news today - we will shortly be moved to another provider in any case.

3 bed older house.

Since the tariffs went up, shit loads! Not sure of the exact amount yet since my last supplier went bust.

Used to be £112 a month combined for three bed medium sized semi. I'm amazed by some of the amounts on here, especially given the the energy crash. Who are you suppliers?

JuliaMumsnet · 18/02/2022 12:16

Hello. Popping in to let you know that we're doing a Q&A with fuel poverty charity National Energy Action about these energy price hikes on Wednesday 23rd Feb at 12 noon. The thread is now open for questions here.

Three bed terrace , Electric is £35 a week so about £140 a month and gas £20 a week , so £80 ish a month . They both prepayment meter so I suppose they will be high . The gas is less in the Summer but I can never get the electric any lower . Have tried everything .Haven't used the tumble drier for years as it's just too expensive and always turn off lights and things off standby etc . Only have usual appliances and no electric heating at all .

3 bed semi , nothing grand we watch the consumption
£298. a month
Fucking disgusting
We were with Bulb , they've gone under apparently so waiting to see who we get swapped to
Husband deals with that side of it all
Hes looked for offers there seems to be nothing about

We currently pay £35 per month in a 3 bed house, but empty nesters. I work from home in an upstairs room with plenty of light. Husband works out of the house. Swapped our TV for a lower wattage LED model to run as I do tend to have it on in the background. Either that or I listen to podcasts on my laptop whilst working. Only plug laptop in when needed, same for mobile phones. Do a full load of washing every other day 40 degree cycle. No tumble dryer, put washing on rads. No dishwasher. I fully expect to pay £50-£55 for the same usage come April.

Forgot to say that I give a manual meter read each month and pay via Standing order so I have control of those stupid direct debits. I'm billed quarterly but have already paid up by then IYSWIM. I'm with SSE which is moving over to OVO soon.

What’s the difference between standing order and direct debit please? I’m going to change from prepay in April but I don’t know the best way to do it.

142 last month combined Bill...3 bed Victorian cottage.....that’s down from the last bill which was 197....we decided to make chances to see if we could reduce the bill and we knocked 55 quid off it

watcherintherye · 13/03/2022 20:36

£85 pm for a large 4 bed semi (older property). £460 in credit. Review in May, by which time I’m sure the credit will have started to dwindle!
No gas. Oil central heating/hot water.

KleineDracheKokosnuss · 13/03/2022 20:44

4/5 bed.

Direct debit is £265 per month for gas and electric, but we’re actually only using £90 approx. But we can afford it so will let the credit build given the prices will rise again in Oct and then we’ll have a good winter cushion.

Ejk1990 · 13/03/2022 20:46

55 pound a month on a variable rate for a 4 bed new build.

We submit monthly meter readings.

mrsmolks · 13/03/2022 22:05

I pay that for an old draughty (no double glazing) 7 bedroom period house that has a heated swimming pool. There is no way your electricity can be that much.
