Could anyone help me with a burnt le cruset

Burnt the bottom of a curry and it just won't come off. I usually manage to get rid with soaking or bicarb or vinegar but I can't shift this.

I love that pot and use it all the time. Would struggle to afford to replace it so really want to fix it if I can

you have tried bicarb?
how about boiling with hot water and ketchup?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2021 17:00

did you boil it with the bicarb?

SylvanasWindrunner · 24/10/2021 17:00

Soaking with a dishwasher tablet?

Gemster19 · 24/10/2021 17:00

Try a dishwasher tab in the bottom, fill up with boiling water and leave it to soak🤞🏼

AitkenDrum1970 · 24/10/2021 17:01

You could try bringing some 'full fat' coke gently up to the boil in it, removes most things!

DebbieHarrysCheekbones · 24/10/2021 17:01

The full fat cola method saved two of mine years ago

Gladioli23 · 24/10/2021 17:04

Dishwasher tablet with boiling water leave to soak and put it back on the hob on low to give it more time to work if necessary. You can also use one of those metal scrubbers if necessary - it's not great for the enamel I don't think, but I've had success before. Make sure you wear washing up gloves if you do as the dishwasher tablet water will be very concentrated and bad for your hands/skin (think corrosive).

MintJulia · 24/10/2021 17:10

If all those fail, put a teaspoon of washing powder (or a tablet) and a pint of water in the pan and simmer for 10 minutes. Usually works Smile

Notcontent · 24/10/2021 17:25

I used bar keepers friend in a similar situation. Started off using hot water and bicarbonate, then tried other increasingly heavy duty products!!

I wouldn’t use a metal scrubber as they do scratch things…

minipie · 24/10/2021 17:27

Is it lumpy residue or just a black stain?

If it’s just black without any lumpiness I would say just use it. If the black hasn’t come off so far it’s unlikely to come off in food. I have le creusets with black marks on the base and they work fine

londonmummy1966 · 24/10/2021 18:03

Steradent tablets - shift most things for me.

TiddleTaddleTat · 24/10/2021 18:18

Boiling with bicarb and lots of gentle scrubbing saved mine. The burnt bits gradually came off but it took a loonnnng time soaking and at one stage thought it was a goner.

thisgardenlife · 24/10/2021 18:18

Biological washing powder dissolved in water and boiled for a while should do the trick.

RoyKentsHairyBack · 24/10/2021 18:32

Superstars! Thank you

Cream of tater and boiling water saved my jam pan when I loaned it out and it can back with stuff burned on the bottom! I made a paste, covered the bottom of the pan then added more water the next morning and gave it a good scrub.

Sugarcube84 · 24/10/2021 18:40

I always use washing powder and boiling water

newtb · 24/10/2021 19:01

Rhubarb is good for getting stuff off metal pans, but not enamel.

Did hear of someone who had to get the top of their Aga re-enamelled after jam boiled over on it. The cost doesn't bear thinking about.

Dishwasher tablets are basically caustic soda, so washing soda would work.

There's always a good soak in hot water with a little bio washing powder, or just washing up liquid and very hot water left overnight. Shifts a lot of stuff, so does scrubbing with a green plastic scrubber and Chemical (the pink stuff, or barkeepers friend, or astonish the one Aga dealers used to sell)

Chemico autocorrect

Just to say, this method was recommended to me a couple of years ago and it worked a treat.
mellicauli · 25/10/2021 23:20

Bio laundry tab, water, boil on the hob for 15 mins

DrNo007 · 25/10/2021 23:22

Waitrose job cleaner used neat and left on for an hour then cleaned off with non scratch wash sponge does the trick.

DrNo007 · 25/10/2021 23:23

Hob cleaner not job cleaner. Darn auto correct.

TrashyPanda · 25/10/2021 23:57

Back in the 1980s le Creuset recommended you put an eggcup of bleach along with water into the pot and boil for about 10 minutes. Wash as usual afterwards.
I’ve been doing this for nearly 40 years and it works every single time, with minimum effort.

ExConstance · 26/10/2021 09:16

I use bleach too, works fine on mine and I've still got the pans I had as wedding presents over 30 years ago.

BoreOfWhabylon · 26/10/2021 09:22

Neat Domestos left to soak shifted burnt on stuff in mine.
