Bearings on washing machine

I have an AEG which is around 7 years old. I think the bearings have gone. Does anyone have an idea of the cost of repairing, and whether it's worth it or replacing the machine?

A new machine. Bearings are now so expensive to replace in most machines as they are part of the complete drum. When ours went they said it would be 450 just for the part! We got a new machine.

Depends if the drum can be split. Older AEG machines could but AEG is now owned by Electrolux so the machines built since they owned the brand could be very different from original AEG quality.
You can do it yourself if feeling brave it's not that difficult. Just watch loads of YouTube videos on how to do it.

We had this issue about a month ago & it seems that most drums are now welded (as they're quieter) so you have to replace the entire drum at £3-400, rather than just the £50 plus labour bearings. Our 10 year old JL one (which was AEG underneath) had that problem. So we replaced it.

Thanks for all your replies. I had a look on YouTube and daren't go there! The consensus looks like a new machine. I paid £250 for it in 2015, so I've more than had my money's worthSmile

Thanks for your helpSmile
