Can I rescue it? It cost a fortune and somehow I’ve buggered it up.
Actually I’ve buggered up two. One is the cast iron non stick and the other is the silver and grey. I’m so Crap.

Ok - so the original enamel cast iron le creuset are not really properly non stick - they are great for casseroles and also frying things like steak or mushrooms. But for me they just don’t work for things like eggs or pancakes.

The modern properly non stick range should be non stick - I have a large pan from that range. They do need to be treated with a bit of care. If you burn something in them badly or scratch them, they may never be the same again…

My sister and I both have one of their non-stick frying pans and have come to the conclusion they’re a bit shit. We both look after them very carefully. They were great for about 5 years but have both gone rubbish since.

Thanks guys, not just me then, that’s reassuring! I thought they were supposed to last forever. Can’t afford to replace, and don’t want to Chuck it and go for some tescos nonsense. Ah well.

Don't they have a lifetime guarantee?

FusionChefGeoff · 05/10/2021 22:09

I contacted Le Creuset when I did this (due to leaving on heat without anything in it - bloody induction hob I keep forgetting it's on) and they replaced without question and without a receipt!

lovablequalities · 06/10/2021 03:46

Don't use soap on them. Wash with hot water alone. They're probably not totally buggered. What did you do? How do they look?

Namebunny · 06/10/2021 21:47

Hmm. They’ve both lost their sheen and all stick. I was wondering whether to treat the iron one like an iron pan and season it. It’s what I did with my wok and never used soap. It was brilliant till someone threw it out cos they didn’t want to scrub it with a Brillo pad. 😏I’ll see if le creuset can help. Good idea! I’ll report back.

We have had to replace one that OH buggered as we thought it his fault for having it on P and soemthing else he did

But I find them very temperamental and you have to be quite delicate with them

Namebunny · 10/10/2021 20:15

Thanks oldraver. You’d think they’d be tough as old boots 👢

We had an issue with the non stick on a large frying pan (5 years old). I contacted Le Creuset who requested pictures, we got a replacement through the post a couple of weeks later.

I would recommend contacting them, their customer service is great.

Legaleaglenot · 12/10/2021 23:33

Apparently you have to use only certain oils with the non stick pans. Sunflower not olive.
They do replace them -- I've just got a new one.

Namebunny · 13/10/2021 07:17

Wow, that’s amazing that they replace them. Will contact them today. Thank you.

If you contact le creuset they usually replace things as long as you haven't been using a knife to cut things in it,

To be honest I'd never thought about contacting them. OH burnt something as he realised he shouldn't of had it on P on the Induction hob and the centre was buggered afterwards

He never uses metal implements at all and insists on washing by hand
