We washout clothes then hang them in the hot press to dry as we can't dry anything outside due to DC allergies then iron once dry and put away.

Wash out sounds grim. Wash our!

Sounds normal to me, Have airer to dry clothes and the thicker bits I put over the banister as we have an open landing and then anything that isn't quite dry get put into the airing cupboard over night.

I live in what they call a demountable dwelling here in Ireland and not even a working washing machine.

Just brought a washed duvet cover and pilliowcases in from the big gate and the hand hold rails along the building

No machines, or washingline. It works fine as do all the ways here on the thread and keeps my ESB bill down.

I always found and find that here a hot press is much larger than our immersion heater cupboard too..

Sorry posted to soon.

When we had the bathrooms replaced the plumber wanted to get rid of the hop water tank and said no as I like airing cupboard for nice hot towels for after the shower and also to finish off drying clothes.

HOT water tank even

Had a hot press in old house, and a pulley, neither in current one.

I dry clothes on radiators if they happen to be on, or clothes horses or outside on line if it’s too warm for radiators to be on.

Only use the tumble dryer for towels as it’s bad for the enviro (but I hate scratchy towels so it’s a naughty treat)!

An Irish family I once nannied for did this - clothes were washed, dried, folded, then put in the "press" overnight before being put away in the drawers.

Have never had a tumble dryer.

Dry outside in summer, and inside on a standard clothes airer next to a dehumidifier in winter.

Dehumidifier is a game changer. A few hours on the eco setting, with one pause to empty the collected water, and everything is beautifully dry. I have a 'wash day' so we only run it once a week.

Airing cupboard houses the towels. Although we have a hot water cylinder (condensing boiler but not a combi) it is so well-insulated that it doesn't warm anything around it at all.

We don't have an airing cupboard.

I hang everything on a clothes horse (big extendable one) in the utility, put the heater on high and open the window, and it's dry in a few hours apart from things like thick hoodies. I only use the tumble drier occasionally, and even then it's only things like towels or underwear. I do need to invest in a dehumidifier actually.

Obviously in dry weather it all goes out on the washing line!
