Every time I try to buy a new kettle I end up preferring my old one

It's a 15 year old 1.7L plastic Russell Hobbs. It heats the water to boiling, and then it switches off. That's it. I just want one that does that, but faster. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I can recommend two both of which I've had.

Both are Bosch one is Bosch Styline TWK8633GB Kettle which lets you set the temp and has a keep hot function which I love.

The other is Bosch TWK76075GB Village Kettle which just turns on and off and is very light and lasts for ages.

I don't think any of us can tell you which are faster, unless you time your current kettle! Fill it to max, time how long it takes to boil, and post the answer here. Then we can do the same!

We have a hob top kettle. We do have an induction hob so it's as quick as a rapid boil electric.

Water always tastes the same, never breaks down!

That is a great idea! I actually went and bought a new kettle - a Bosch TWK3P424 - so it is going to be too late for me but maybe someone else will come across this thread and find it useful.

I did 1L - I thought that would be enough to test it, without filling the whole thing - and it took 3min 4sec.

I am seriously thinking of backing this up with a cheap hob top kettle as I notice water boils like the clappers when I use the induction hob.

Okay, have tested my VonShef 3000W kettle with 1L water.......

2 mins 17s from switching on, to auto-shut-off when it boiled.

It's a really light and aesthetically-pleading kettle. Possibly a bit noisier than some kettles, but fast boiling is more important to me Grin

I used my Bosch Styline. It was set to 100 degrees and took 1 minute 30 seconds to heat 1L of water.
