Hi all
We are living in 2 bed flat built 14 years ago. Recently we have big problem with silverfish. We use to have them in en suit for years but it looks like they spread all over the flat.
2 weeks ago I did complete clear out and deep clean. I find them breading in cardboard boxes with kids paint. I was renovating one bedroom including putting the flooring. After cleaning I spread all scerting boards with dethlac spray also all cracks in walls and kitchen, bathroom.
Now after 2 weeks they out and is even more. Dh thinks that I started a fight and they going out like crazy.
I have nightmares with silverfish and don't know how to get rid of this creatures.

Ps. They even in the lamp in en suite
Any advice ?

I used indorex (Amazon) which is a flea spray but it cleared the silverfish. I had to declutter my walk in wardrobe as I had damp and this is where they came from.

I decluttered all flat 2 weeks ago and deep clean everywhere and spray. No idea what's going on. Possible damp in en suit but is no leak we just use toilet. The shower hasn't been used for 14 years.

I used ant powder. It lists that it is effective for silver fish too.

They definitely come from damp.
Make sure to dry your floor after baths and air the bathroom out as fast as pos.

I used diatomaceous earth which got rid of them. I had some anyway as we get so many ticks on our lawn I sprinkled a bit where the children played most. You have to be careful not to breathe any in but it’s natural and seems very good

I feel for you OP. When I moved in I found a silverfish problem. Caused by previous occupier using a tumble dryer in the understairs cupboard which didn't have a window. Hmm

In this situation, your best friend will be a dehumidifier.

It is likely that that your en suite is poorly ventilated, even if it has an extractor fan in it. The silverfish are breeding due to the excess moisture, damp in your flat.

You need to remove all the excess moisture in the air. I have Meaco DD8L dehumidifier. One of my better purchases.

Just switch it on, set the humidity level and when reached it will switch itself off. Or you can set it for timed periods.

It's also good to use if you dry clothes indoors.

Completely second the dehumidifier suggestion. Along with decluttering. The love dark damp places!

Hi
Thank you for all advice. I bought diatomaceous earth and duster today so will have a go. A dehumidfier is on my list as well.
Apparently neighbour a couple of flats from us has the same problem with silverfish.
