How to clean wooden/laminate flooring?

When I bought my house the estate agent told me that it had real wood floors. It seems to have two different types of flooring, the one in the kitchen seems to have light grooves in it and looks heavier and more like real wood, if that makes sense.

I now think that the living room flooring might be laminate because a little chip appeared and looks like it's not proper wood. Both types have different patters and stuff though.

Anyway, how do I go about cleaning it? I've read that laminate can warp if it's left wet, is there a safe way of cleaning it if that's what it is and can you give me advise on what is the best way to keep it looking good?

Thanks

When I had laminate flooring in my old house I would give it a quick Hoover to get up the dust/crumbs and then go over it with the flash speed mop.

Hoover then zoflora in a spray mop

Ours is laminate but good quality (well, was a more expensive one at the time). It’s been down 15 years and I hoover it every day/other day as we have a dog, then use a damp cloth with just water on to wipe over it once a week or so. It’s been fine and not moved.

Definitely hand wipe the floor and make sure it's dry, we had laminate and spray mopped it and it got ruined eventually so I definitely wouldn't advise mopping it if you can avoid it.

I do the same with my laminate though no dog just a messy toddler.

I deliberately chose laminate with a 25 year life span.

I Hoover when needed and then use a ‘swifter’ thing to which I attach a disposable dusting wipe to go over floor afterwards. Pledge ones. It’s surprising the amount of dust the hoover misses. The wipes contain a little something that seems to clean it too. Any little spills like tea or coffee drips I just use a damp cloth. Every six months I do go over thoroughly by hand with a cleaning solution but it honestly never seems very dirty. .

We have laminate and I hoover and then use a flat mop (one which has a bucket with a squeezy bit so you can make the mop not too wet iyswim).

Thanks everyone. In my last place I used a mop and floor cleaner but I just applied a very thin layer, I didn't saturate it in case it warped the floor. It was ok. It's just a pity I don't know for sure what the floors are made of, the kitchen stuff seems more heavy duty though.
