House smelling of dogs

How do I keep the house smelling nice and not stinking of the two dogs we have. We do love them, and try to keep the house clean and well ventilated, but it always seems to have that whiff about the house. We are moving to a new house shortly and could do with some tips please

Maybe unavoidable and something to live with? No real solution other than to keep dogs 'clean' and to minimise fabrics in your home.

Lots of hoovering. And carpet washing.

I don’t know that you would be able to tell though as it seems that people can’t usually smell the aroma from their own homes.

What sort of dogs? If they're hairy slobby big dogs you don't have a chance...

We've got a small terrier, he doesn't shed or slobber but I'm sure my house smells to non dog people.

If you can smell it, they must honk. Wash your dogs.

Vacuum regularly and deep clean carpets annually, at least.

Make sure the dogs lie on a dog bed/blanket, even on the carpet. Wash the bed every week. If they are allowed on furniture, make sure it has a cover that's washed every week.

Call in a good friend and ask them if they can smell the dogs.

We have two small hairy dogs. They are groomed professionally once every five to six weeks, and their beds and the blanket on the sofa that they use are washed every week to ten days. Also I find making sure the dogs gets plenty of fresh air helps, and if they do happen to get manky between visits to the groomer I just chuck them in the bath.

Carpets are cleaned regularly and I keep windows at the front and back of the house open for at least an hour a day so that there is a good blow through.

I have a very acute sense of smell and think I'd notice if they honked. Also my sister comes round every week and she's very blunt about things like that. She'd tell me straight if there was a problem.

Keep the dogs off the furniture then their smell won't get ingrained. Have flooring you can mop rather than carpet.

If you have visitors coming, there is a range of candles that our vet sells that are dog friendly - may be worth a google. Im sure our house hooks.

Kennel in the garden and keep them mostly out, is the only way if you like to have them in your house you can and invite them in after tea for an hour in front of the fire. Dogs usually like to be outside anyway. Ours used to live out but have edged their way in, I think the kids think they are furry humans. They don't go upstairs though and I try to keep them out of the sitting room. Mine are quite big though and shed alot and take up alot of space too haha.

Windows always open and fume free candles on. Carpets hoovered and sofas wiped down daily. I don’t think my home smells and my friends all say they can’t smell it but I always wonder if it does a little bit.

Hard wood flooring or laminate rather than carpets . Daily hoovering of any rugs. Windows open daily. Grooming the dogs regui.

Hard flooring downstairs with rug.
Dog not allowed on furniture or upstairs.
The dog sleeps either on the hard floor for coolness, or in her very comfortable large bed, which has washable covers.
I wash the dog occasionally when she smells doggy.
I open the windows regularly.
