Stick blender

I have a cheapo stick blender from asda but it's rubbish and splatters everywhere! Can anyone recommend a decent one? Want to use for soups and smoothies.

Make sure it’s one that comes apart for washing. Mine is one solid unit and it’s a bugger to get properly clean.

Thanks!

I've got a Kenwood one, it has two detachable end pieces, one with a metal blade and one for mashing potatoes. They are easy to clean. I think Amazon is the cheapest.

Mine is a Baun. I love it!

Second the recommendation of Kenwood. The one I have us really heavy and solid and works really well. And has done for the 10+ years I've had it. Comes apart easily for cleaning.

Bamix.

They are not cheap but mine has lasted around 20 years now and is still going strong. The two I had before didn't last any longer than a year.

I used one in our holiday cottage the other day - it had a sort of metal 'bell' and very high blades, and it was awful; really loud and didn't blend well. Fortunately I'd brought my Braun one, which I've had for years and is more muffled, and does an efficient job of blending.

Of course any stick blender can splatter if you get a bad angle or if you're blending something quite thin. I tend to do lots of vertical plunges then when most of the lumps have gone, hold the stick at slight angle deep in the mixture, blend for ages and it all gets sucked in, and you pick up any last lumps that have been missed.

Mine is a cheap one from Aldi, that I use with one of these spatter guards
