Sun really removes stains!!!!

I read a post here somewhere only few days ago of someone mentioning that if you put something with a stain to dry in the sun it makes the stain fade.
Well, OMG, I am approaching 50 and never known!!!

Today I took out of the washing machine a white t-shirt with still some light yellow stains (my son's antibiotic, he spit it out!). I normally would put it back on the pile of things to wash, with mental note to spray it with some stains removal before the next load.
However, I remembered that post and put it to dry in the sun. It's magic. The stain has COMPLETELY gone.

I will do this more often now:).

Thank you to the lady who wrote about it - wherever she is!

Going to try this with a couple of t shirts tomorrow!

It also gets rid of baby poo stains (or at least bf ones)

HelloDulling · 23/07/2021 22:20

It really does! Is brilliant on tomato-based stains.

mum2jakie · 23/07/2021 22:21

Yep great. It will bleach grey whites too. I've been leaving my older towels out on the line this week to brighten them!

Cookerhood · 23/07/2021 22:21

Yep, best way of getting rid of stains

Holothane · 23/07/2021 22:22

It will do how do think people managed before the stuff we use now, sheets were thrown over bushes etc to dry.

Badabingbadabum · 23/07/2021 22:30

It absolutely does! If I know it is going to be a dry night and a sunny morning in summer I purposefully leave things on the line facing the sunrise to maximise its benefits!

thelegohooverer · 23/07/2021 22:38

It’s a game changer.

MiniMaxi · 23/07/2021 23:35

Had no idea! Was wondering how a stain on back door paintwork faded so much!

Theoldwoman · 25/07/2021 14:10

Well growing up in the Southern Hemisphere, we line dry everything, so yes the sun does remove stains.

Buttons294749 · 28/07/2021 23:30

Yup, it's magic and free!

BashfulClam · 28/07/2021 23:37

It doesn’t even need to be really sunny. I managed to miss my mouth with my pasta and had a big red stain. Put my top outside and wasn’t hopeful as it was overcast…it’s like witchcraft!

Great! DS got loads on a brand new M&S white polo for school 😱

I strategically place dds bibs and vests in the sun, 11 months in and not a stain in sight!

stickygotstuck · 28/07/2021 23:48

Conversely, this is why you should always hang dark colours inside out Wink.

TheSkatesOfCoachBombay · 29/07/2021 00:18

Yeah they get "sun bleached" as my nan would say.

I always put lights outside in direct sun and then darks in the shade away from direct sunlight. Yes I have two holes in my garden to move the line around. I'm weird I know but it's my "thing" 😬
