How to keep on top of house work with baby?!

My house is a mess

My friend has just messaged and said she will pop over at the weekend.

My house isn't just a little bit messy, it's embarrassingly so.

My baby is now 6 months old but so clingy. She hates the sling. I can probably get her to sit in a chair for half an hour twice a day whilst I fling some washing on, prep dinner and wash up. This is literally ALL I get done. She won't nap in her cot will only nap on me or she will scream and scream. How does everyone else do it?!

I can't stand looking at it all. My jobs list is just getting higher & higher. My husband finishes work at 5 sometimes 6. I always have dinner done but he'll come home have a shower and help where he can. He will do the washing up of the dinner stuff but by the time we have got the children to bed and washed up even it's late, I'm nackered and this little one can still often wake up multiple times a night so when she's ready for bed then so am I 💤 how are these pristine super mums doing it as I'm quite clearly not one of them 🙄

Sorry, not sure but didn't want to read and run...! I am not much help as i couldn't do it with my babies. Both very clingy.

I think it started to get better when they turned one. 🙄 You have a few options here:

  1. Could you hire a cleaner/mother's help a few hours per week?
  2. Any family/ close friends that could help a few hours a week. Maybe just holding the baby if she will allow it so you can get a few things done.
  3. This might be a no goer and I know it's awful but you might have to leave the baby to cry for a few minutes so you can get some things done sometimes??
  4. I really really hear you about the tiredness in the evening but could you and your DH push yourself to do 15 minute more in the evening, say 3 times per week, that would be 1.5 hours more tidying than you would be doing otherwise...or get up a bit earlier in the morning if at all possible.
  5. Try the five by five before your friend visits! Five mins in five main areas to get it ready eg cleaner down loo, pick up rubbish in living room, kitchen, quick wipe of sinks, 5 minute toy tidy....if your friend is a close friend, they can help you

Not sure how helpful i have been. If all else fails, remember this is a season of life and enjoy your baby. X😍
