How do you keep your homes smelling fresh and clean? We have a house cat so there is litter to contend with and our kitchen doesn't have a window! Would love to walk in and smell clean and freshness tips/products please ?

Do you have an essential oil diffuser? Some oils are not safe for animals, but diffusing oils does smell lovely, and a little goes a long way.
A few drops of pure lemon, peppermint, geranium for example would be nice and fresh.

Get an item of furniture (sideboard/ cabinet), put a cat flap in it, and put the litter tray in there.
Nice smells often involve stuff it's not greatly healthy for us or our pets to breathe in.
I tend to leave the doors open and open the windows for a bit of through draft to freshen the place up.

I mix up some washing softner with water in a small spray bottle to waft around the house. Smells lovely.

Plenty of fresh air from open windows and I like to put eucalyptus oil in my steamer thing. It’s very fresh and head clearing but you could also try tea tree oil if the smells are very odorous

I was wondering this recently as with 2 stinky cats, small kids and not a lot of time to clean our house is often a bit stale and yucky smelling. We also mostly have doors rather than windows that can be opened so it's harder to air the house and freezing here

I did think I'm going to take the bins out to the garden and spray them down with the hose to get them really clean, put stuff down the drains (ours always smell) and clean out the fridge.

Open all windows wide for an hour each morning or if the weather is bad, open them just a crack and leave them open for as long as possible.

Put cat litter trays inside those igloo things to contain smell and if the litter goes into the rubbish, use scented nappy bags to decant it into.

Wash floors frequently. I use Method almond or Johnson's soapy cleaner which has a mild orange smell. Avoid floor wipes. They have a smell that quickly sours and smells dirty.

Instead of harsh chemical sprays for cleaning surfaces use something like Method lavender or rhubarb, or just hot water with your favourite scent of washing up liquid.

Put a ball of cotton wool with essential oil on it into the vacuum cleaner - try lavender, geranium, lemon or pine. You can also rub a little bit of fabric conditioner onto the radiators in cold weather. When they heat up they give off a lovely fresh laundry smell.

Make fresh coffee, bake bread or toast waffles. Put your perfume on in the hallway not the bathroom or bedroom so it slightly scents the house, (if you wear any.)
