Mould

Hi,

We are thinking about moving into a new apartment and have viewed many that I hate. There is one apartment that is within walking distance to my mother m, decently priced and very close to the train for work (our two main priorities) it also has everything extra we wanted on our list. However it currently has BLACK MOULD around the windows of two rooms and in the bathroom.

The landlord said it was because the apartment has been closed up for a long while as the current tenant lives abroad and is hardly ever here.

But I am still worried. If they don’t remove it properly I know for a fact it will keep coming back! Ive seen this happen to a friend. This will really upset me and I will hate living there if I see mould. I work 50+ hour weeks (usually around 60 hrs) and I have a 10month old so I want to come home and feel relaxed and happy and not have to stress about the house too.

Anyone experienced this or any advice on what to do. I know all flats have their pros and cons and this is the only con for this one but I am not sure if it something I can live with.

I also have black mould around my windows. I clean it every time it appears with actual black mould products (only from b&m) but it always returns. I air my house out everyday (opening all windows and doors) but it's now starting to grow on the ceiling. Landlord has blamed moisture in the walls and told me to continue airing out. It's a losing battle!
