I am wanting to swap to eco friendly cleaning products and wondered what are your recommendations please. I have tried some method products and love these, I am wondering if there are cheaper alternatives.

We just use microfibre cloths and water. More effective and healthier than most cleaners anyway.

Astonish products are widely available and cost much less .

Lots of the Home Bargains / The Range type shops .

They have the Leaping Bunny .

Smol-deliver on a regular basis through the post in recyclable packaging. Cleaning spray comes as a tablet you dissolve in your spray bottle with water. Good washing and dishwashing tabs.

I like Smol products. I use their dishwasher and laundry tablets, their vegan fabric conditioner and their cleaning sprays.

I make my own - washing up liquid, vinegar, lemon essential oil topped up with water - best cleaner I have ever used.

This^ I use the e-cloth ones. They have a lovely thickness to them, wash well and are still soft after many years... (I think I bought mine 4-5 years ago...)

Didn't think we were meant to be using microfibre cloths due to shedding plastic or am I mixing that up with something else?

firstimemamma · 07/06/2021 22:37

Splosh are good if you don't live near a refill shop.

Surface spray / glass cleaner can be made using diluted vinegar (essential oils / a squeeze of lemon optional).

I didn’t realise astonish were eco friendly. So if the bunny is on the label does this mean they are environmentally friendly?

I do use water and a cloth but sometimes I need something a little stronger.

I recommend Greenscents, they do a range of great eco friendly cleaning products. The mint surface cleaner is amazing and smells lovely.

The Leaping Bunny means they aren't tested on animals .
They are in plastic bottles which you might not agree with ., ir depends on how environmentally friendly you need .

But they're effiecient , smell nice and they;ve been around a long while so proven track record .

Actually one of the most environmentally friendly cleaners would be a steamer . I used one on my guinea-pigs housing because its just water !

I'm so pissed off with products that declare "Vegan" but when I delve deeper they aren;t cruelty free , Usually cosmetics jumping on the Vegan Bandwagon.
Having no animal by-products isn't the same as Cruelty Free .

Wash them in a guppy bag Smile

That's right, a product that is not tested on animals can still contain animal products and not be 'eco'. Trying to tick all three boxes is difficult!

I usually buy Method or Ecover. M&S own brand is also very good. Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Aldi is all cruelty free.
