Is Method food safe?

I can't find details anywhere - but I've always used Method rhubarb to clean my whole kitchen including inside my microwave, by spraying the Method into it and then wiping after a couple of minutes, but I don't think I necessarily manage to wipe it all away.

My question is - is this safe/ is it generally food safe? Should I be waiting a certain amount of time before using the microwave?

I've never really thought about it before but just realised tonight I served up takeaway curry to myself and two guests, reheated - without lids on the bowls - in there immediately after cleaning it. Is this safe, in terms of fumes and chemicals etc when the microwave was then heated up?!

I use the Method products as well (not anti bacterial as we have a sewage treatment unit which relies on good chomping bugs). But I do only use Fairy and very hot water on chopping boards or the wood worktops if I'm going to roll dough.

Without trying to descend this thread into a competition about who cleans the least, I was having a similar discuss with friends recently about the vast array of cleaning products that most people tend to have that I can’t for the life of me work out what they are for.

I literally clean everything in my house with fairy liquid except the bathroom where I use method bathroom cleaner and I have a multipurpose (not antibacterial) method spray for occasions where a sponge and fairy/water seems too wet. Plus a bottle of flash type stuff for the floors.

Fairy and a sponge for the microwave. Always wipe out straight away and keep things covered where humanly possible. Door open for a few minutes after use to stop smells building up.

I’ve also managed to get through the past year without buying any hand sanitiser at all. Only ever bought it for festivals and similar where washing hands after the loo isn’t always an option!

@PurpleCurtain Is this a genuine post? You've just said "We don't have any fairy liquid as I dont think we have anything that's not dishwasher safe... perhaps need to buy some."

What does that mean??

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 28/04/2021 13:56

@PurpleCurtain - I am considering these are times of Covid. I still won't bother with anti-bacterial products as Covid is a virus.

@Skinnytailedsquirrel I presume the OP means she doesn't have fairy liquid, as she used dishwasher tablets ("dishwasher safe")

We use method anti bac on kitchen benches, to clean spillages on tiled floor, to wipe down sinks in the evening. I spray onto a damp microfibre cloth and then wipe & leave to dry.

For the microwave, I wipe with a damp cloth after each use, and if it's something particularly stinky, I do the lemon trick to fresh it and wipe down

Another who doesn't use chemicals in the microwave.

I just put a bowl of water in for 2 minutes, which makes it steam and grab a clean cloth and it wipes away everything and is safe.

I wash up the glass plate though.

You've had a hard time OP! I used the same spray and just wipe it off with kitchen roll. I never considered any other way. I haven't used it in the microwave, but that's just because I haven't needed to as I don't use the microwave often
