Dried clean curtains

Boring I know , but I have curtains in living room which say dry clean.
They are filthy as the dog likes to run up against them.
Can I wash them on cold delicate wash?
Last time I sent curtains to a dry cleaners they came back with the lining shrunk and the curtains seemed bleached ?

Or soak in the bath? (If you have an alternative shower etc) they get heavy and you need to drain them a bit at a time.

What are they made of, if cotton or polyester cold machine wash should be fine, viscose tends to shrink and that velvet or satiny material might get very created in the wash. I washed dry clean cotton curtains in the machine on delicate wash and they were fine.

Creased not created

You need to say what they are made of op.

i just washed mine and they said dry clean only...gentle 15 minute wash, extra spin cos my machine only did a slow spin on that cycle, out on the line and they were fine.

they probably could have done with a good press, the nice crisp edge where the material meets the lining on the wrong side has gone a bit awry but they are clean and much fresher. It's the cats hiding behind them in this house, a lovely layer of cat yicky and fluff at window sill height!!

Right , given me confidence to wash them. They cost £100 a pair so you can understand I was a bit unsure.
Now got to wait for it to stop raining .....

I very carefully cool washed some on a hand-wash cycle and line dried in my last rental. They shrank. The linings didn't shrink, so were longer than the curtains and visible. (I took up the linings to make it less obvious but luckily the landlord was fully redecorating and decided to replace them.)
