Aga. Oil versus electric

Has anyone on here converted their aga from oil or gas to electric and if so, can you share your thoughts please? Thinking about changing to electric but could really use some advice from actually users of the things, pros and cons and of course, cost. Thank you

A friend has and regrets it. She hadn’t fully appreciated how well it heated the kitchen, and the conversion seems to be neither one thing nor another. It can be left on all the time but guzzles electricity so of course it’s switched off. It then takes ages to heat up so can’t be used for everyday cooking. I guess with the new type of electric aga they are designed more like a conventional electric cooker, whereas a conversion is having to use the old aga design which is definitely not conventional.

We agonised over the conversion. Eventually we ripped the oil aga out and replaced with an electric Everhot.
It has an eco mode at night which saves electricity. I think they work well with solar panels but we haven’t got that far yet.
It still keeps the kitchen nice and warm, the washing dries in a day and the lid is flat so folded washing is ‘ironed’ more easily.

Do you rate the Everhot over the Aga?

Comparing a new Everhot with a 1970s refurbed Aga, yes, I would.
4K seemed a lot for a conversion.
The Everhot doesn’t quite have the radiation cooking style of the Aga but roasts, casseroles, bread are all great. No cooling shelves needed for baking either Grin

Thank you for responding. I love my Aga so thinking about just re-enamelling at the moment! But oil is not great environmentally either.
