Keeping drawers fresh

The clothes drawers where I keep things not used often are driving me mad. I often find myself rewashing things that I might only use once or twice a year. Christmas bedding is the biggest pain as it's a full wash just to freshen everything up again.

I was wondering if dryer sheets might work, what does everyone else do?

I've got rid of a lot of stuff that's rarely used or kept 'just in case'. Vacuum storage bags for things I can't yet being myself to donate.

TK Maxx sell bars of Italian soap which are wrapped in paper and are really strongly scented. They’re a couple of pounds each and I just put one in each drawer to keep things smelling fresh- the citrus scented ones are particularly good for this.

Good old fashioned lavender bags. My mum makes me some every year mostly lavender flowers plus a little dried rosemary and they work wonders. Even in our holiday home where things can sit in the airing cupboard for months (and since lockdown it's been over a year and counting) things always come out fresh. I'm planting my own lavender bed this year to supplement the ones she gives me. .

Thank you, I like the idea of citrus and lavender. The vacuum bags would be great, but I'm going to admit to being too lazy to keep up to resealing things.

Too much stuff. Fabrics stored for ages will get a bit smelly. Use the bedding on rotation regardless of the pattern.

Do you have an airing cupboard? Sorry if it’s a silly question. I think it’s better to store these things where the air can circulate a bit and they don’t get cold or damp.

Is there any chance that they’re being put away before they are fully dry? Steam ironing can leave them slightly damp.

You can buy wardrobe dehumidifiers (plastic bags with crystals in them) which might help too.
