Desperate now...Hiring a Cleaner?

Hi all,
I feel terrible that I can’t keep up with housework these days, due to various commitments and the house is now in a bit of a state after a few very tough weeks.

Who has a cleaner? How much do they charge? I guess I would need weekly or fortnightly? How long does a full house take (largish 3 bed property)
I’ll feel so embarrassed by the state of things when they come. I will also need to take my dd with special needs out when the come, for the duration (which is tricky)

Help!

£15 per hr Surrey (some charge £20).... you prob need 4 hours a week

I had a cleaner pre covid who was £27 for two hours I have a two bedroom semi, I'm also a House cleaner as job and sounds like it would take maby 4 hours or a deep clean once then maby 3 hours a week to keep on top of things. I'm usually paid between 10-20 an hour depending on house and what needs done Smile

Thanks! The neighbours are going to think I’m so lazy 😬

What does a routine and deep clean usually include?

I focus on showing my appreciation for all our lovely cleaner does for us. Stops me feeling quite so embarrassed, because, well, who would pay to clean and already clean house.

It's really up to you to communicate what you want. Do you want to cap the time at so many hours a week and ask what could be done in that time? Of ask what would be done as a minimum in say two hours and what would be occasional extras.

One big factor will be how tidy your house will be. It takes a lot more time if the cleaner will have to tidy before they can get on and clean.

We are quite spoiled as we have a few hours twice a week and never really have to do any cleaning ourselves. It's bliss.

Cleaner here op... £10 an hour. Happy to have dc /dpets around. Happy to currently wear a mask and gloves. I would say make 4 good hours to start, maybe 2/3 weeks to get going them 3 a week should be good!
Don't be afraid to write a do /don't list for any potential cleaner! I love a list to begin with - then we both have appropriate expectations!
No judging here op. Without you I would be unemployed!

I have a cleaner, best thing I ever did. £11 per hour and I have three hours a fortnight (four bed house). They've just been in touch to say they're increasing to £12 an hour, which I'm fine with, I've had them for about 18 months.

Don't give a second thought to the neighbours!! If anything they will be envious. Who cares what they think. I don't see it as 'lazy' to have my cleaner. I work hard in my career, have a toddler to look after, a husband who works long hours. I'd think nothing of paying for an electrician or tree surgeon if I needed one. Why is a cleaner so different!? Enjoy it!
