Kitchen worktop - how do you contain water when you wash up with an undermounted sink?

If you have an undermounted sink, how do you stop the water from running off the surface?

We're putting in a solid surface, and wondering about whether we should get drainer grooves (or a recessed drainer), or whether one of those silicon mats or drainers with a tray would do the job better. (We have a dishwasher, so it's going to mostly be tins, etc that we wash up.)

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I have an undermounted sink and granite worktops. I didn't want drainer grooves in the surface as I love the smooth shiney surface to be completely clear when the kitchen is clean and tidy, and grooves would spoil that.

I have one of these drainer trays which can go on the worktop next to the sink when washing up is needed, and it stows away in the cupboard under the sink when not needed. I also have a drainer basket that fits neatly into one of the halves of the double sink.

The issue isn't so much "stopping water from running off" because water surface tension means that generally water will pool and sit there - but this does lead to grimy residue being left behind if you let a slop of washing up water stay there and just dry off naturally without being wiped up, so a quick spray around and wipe down is a good idea anyway.
