Do I want an electric diffuser?

I'm looking at reed diffusers as mine are running low. I have used them for years but I'm wondering if I should get an electric oil diffuser. I'm just worried that it will be more rubbish I buy that I end up not using. I do have a load of essential oils as I use them and add them to things but I'm thinking that the oils are not as good as the diffusers which tend to be a mixture of scents.

Any advice?

Bloody great. Have the white company one but the oils aren't that nice so got Neom ones. You can get a cheap diffuser for £30 on Amazon then just get nice oils

sskanky · 09/03/2021 19:39

Oh and the neom oils are blends which is why they are lovely. Really like the neroli mimosa happy one

Someone on here recommended the asakuki diffuser on Amazon

greycloudysky · 09/03/2021 19:49

Wow. Did not expect such a quick response! Obviously brings out passion in people.

I honestly didn't know you could buy lovely smelling oil blends. That means that I would save a fortune after initial outlay as the reed diffusers I buy are stupidly expensive. You only have to use a few drops of essential oil as far as I know.

I'll take a look at Amazon for a diffuser and some oils. I usually use Fig for my reed diffusers so will look for a fig mix oil.

Love my white company one! The scent fills the entire house.

Cliffdonville · 09/03/2021 19:53

I have 2 of the neon ones (both gifts) I love them but they are expensive. Makes my house smells beautiful, and they look great, you could get the same result with a cheaper diffuser and the neom oils I reckon.

greycloudysky · 09/03/2021 19:55

How do you position them? Do you put them in the hall so they fill the whole house or can I just put it in the sitting room?

Do you have to use it every day or can you just use it a few times a week to scent the house?

Also, do they create damp spots? I know they have a mist, so am a bit worried about where the water goes.

OP I hope you don't mind if I ask you a question

How effective do you find the reed diffusers? Was literally just looking them for a Mother's Day gift.

Does the scent carry well in a big room? Thanks.

LegendDairy · 09/03/2021 20:27

They don't create damp. It's like 100ml of water. Your breathing overnight in a cold room would condense into less than that.

I have one on my desk for when I'm working. I prefer pure oils instead of blends. Rosemary is good for concentration.

greycloudysky · 09/03/2021 20:37

I do not mind at all.

They tend to be quite subtle, so if your mum is into 'big' scents, then perhaps reed diffusers aren't for her.

Quality varies and it tends to be trial and error. Eg some of the more expensive ones I've bought such as White Company have been very disappointing. They just haven't lasted well at all.

I recommend Compagnie de Provence which last for ages and have a nice scent. They have very natural smelling scents, so it doesn't feel as though you are inhaling chemicals. You do smell them, but the smell is subtle.

With reed diffusers, you need to turn the reeds around every week and ideally you want a few in the house. For example, one in the hall and one in the bathroom. I have one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom.

Compagnie de Provence no longer do Fig, so I was looking at Urban Apothecary. Another alternative is Parks.

Thank you OP

They are way beyond my price range sadly but I might get one from elsewhere. She likes a subtle scent and doesn't want candles burning in case she forgets them.

I have an electric burner that cost about £10 and use it with neom oils, I love it! I wasn't sure how good it would be but it fills the room with the smell. I bought the oil just after Christmas and use it about every other day and still got quite a bit left.

@LunaHeather

Slightly different but cheaper option, I’ve got a Yankee candle electric wax melter. There’s no flame and you can put it on a timer.

Ah! Then I've heard that Aldi do good knock offs. Check out their diffuser range. They do three packs for a tenner and they have good reviews.
