How often do you buy new mattresses?

Our mattress was an expensive one, and it is looking saggy and becoming less comfortable. It is 5 years old, and I don't think that's very old for a mattress.

But maybe I'm living in cloud cuckoo land. What do you think? Do you all change all your mattresses every 5 years anyway?

We've just replaced our expensive, supposed to last 10 years one, after 3 years. It probably says something about the my bum that it was my side that had gone saggy and I could feel every wretched spring . The previous one did last 10 years, but was not particularly comfortable for the last 2.

So we've now bought a relatively cheap foam mattress that came with a 10 year guarantee, but are expecting to need to replace it in 3-5 years.

Up to 10 years. In our experience it really is worth paying a bit more, we've certainly noticed that more expensive ones are better quality and seem to last much longer.

We bought our latex mattress about seven years ago and it is still fine - I would expect it to last a good 10-15 years I guess. I've never liked sprung mattresses I have to say.
