Washer/dryer

Just moved into a new house, there is a washer/dryer, but I also have my own washing machine which is fairly new. I have the room for both, but wanted to know if I could un plumb the washer/dryer, and just use it as a dryer?

You should be able to split the plumbing so you can have both plumbed in, with a Y shape inlet.

I'm not sure if the washer/dryer will work as just a dryer without water to it, it will have sensors and stuff which will stop you be in able to use it if it's a newer machine. There may be ways of stopping that, but you may need a washing machine engineer to work it out for you.
Can you get rid of the washer/dryer or trade it in for a dryer?

The Y shaped inlet sounds interesting, thanks for that. If that fails I will dispose (recycle) the washer/dryer and replace with a dryer.

It will depend on the model. Some of them will only dry immediately after a wash cycle. With some others you can put them on for a separate drying cycle.

We had an AEG one years ago in our first house and it was fine for about 4 years then just kept on going wrong.

The drying capacity is often half the wash capacity. So, if it’s a 8kg machine you might only have 4kg drying load.

Sell it on eBay and buy a proper dryer.
