Boring hoover question: Shark?

Hi there! Having burned through two reconditioned Dyson cordless hoovers (replaced the battery on one, which lasted 6 months before the sensor packed in..!), I'm thinking of really treating myself and buying a new Hoover that actually works. Hmm

Not keen on getting another Dyson: aside from the fact that these have not been brilliant, I don't want to give money to that particular company.

I've seen a lot of rave reviews of Sharks on here and elsewhere, but there are so many different models my head is spinning, and I'm not sure which to choose.

Definitely want anti hair wrap, pet hair capability and amazing suction overall. We have mostly wood/tile floors, with some rugs. My other half feels that part of the issue with the previous ones was that they were cordless- less powerful, more to go wrong. I liked their convenience (when they bloody worked), and that they were compact and wall mounted (small house with stairs, so we had one up, one downstairs).

If anyone has experience, good bad or indifferent, I'd be very grateful if you were bored enough to share it... thanks!

I love my shark on carpets but....
As others will tell you here, if new or v dusty carpets, the tube can clog with fluff - I keep a bamboo stick for this Confused
Also, on hard floors, it's not great for small hard bits like grit - they tend to drop back on to the floor. Friend recently thought hers faulty with this (she has lots of hard bits due to pets
I am careful with mine to hold it upside down after hoovering hard floors until I right it over the sink to let hard bits fall out

However, I love it in carpets and knocked spots of my dyson for that. I also really like the pet attachment that I use as hand held short vacuum on the stairs. The brushes whizz round so super on stairs

Thank you- that's interesting. Grit could be an issue as we go to the beach a lot...

I've not had sand - I think bigger heavier bits of grit rather than the lighter ones like sand

Totally agree with Ice ( except I don't love my Shark at all , in fact I'd say it is unmitegated shite .

The cannister is small but I don't have a lot of carpet (hall/stairs and 3 bedrooms) so it'll pick up a room worth but quick to empty .
I also had the regurtitation of grit when it was switched off , had to keep it running over a bin for 30 seconds before switch off .
Tube gets blocked , I had a bamboo stick handy .

Mine was a corded so no battery issues .
I bought a turbo brush for stairs , ok but didn't get into the edges (I use a Buddy Brush )

I gave up and got a Halo Capsual which is miles better . Lightweight , bagged . Not a huge amount of run time but easy to re charge .

But ...............................

I bought a George 3-in-1 (from the Henry stable) I needed to shampoo the hall/stairs carpet . (Cats , hair , mucky little paws and DD spills coffee)
Just used the dry vacuum , OMG !
I'm shampooing tomorrow .

It;s a better clean than the Halo , but I;ll still use that for quick cleans .

Thanks, @WithIcePlease and @70isaLimitNotaTarget! I think I'll need to do more research. Definitely want something which doesn't need a massive amount of storage to put away, or would definitely love the George...
