I am trying to explore options for replacing a dead Rayburn (the heating/hot water bit is limping along and may be salvageable, the cooker is not). The plumber who serviced it says the new Rayburns are very noisy. But he wants to sell us a new external oil-fired boiler [would require planning permission and listed building consent :-( ] and we’d have to buy a new range cooker on top of that. More expensive than replacing the Rayburn. So does anyone have experience of the new Rayburns and whether it’s possible to live with them? We spend a lot of time in our kitchen, especially in the winter.
