Old Toothbrush and bicarbonate of soda round the taps. Works wonders and v satisfying.
My grout is that orangey colour often, please dont feel bad.
When I can face it I get out a toothbrush or a big scrubbing brush and do the tile grout in stages, then rinse with shower head.

Someone will hopefully come along with diy tips for regrouting.

You'll have to rip that silicone out and re seal it. Silicone is cheap and it's not really a hard job, just make sure the bath is full of water if you do reseal the whole thing

I dyed my hair red recently too. So that hasn't helped. How can I fill the gaps?

So it's silicone not filler 😬

Yes silicone not filler. Easy job. Watch YouTube. Also replacing taps is not hard. Generally best to go for the best you can afford though.

Cillit Bang mould cleaner for the hair dye ;)

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/01/2021 23:20

Don't feel bad OP - lots of us have similar bathrooms, and no mental health or money issues in sight!

Scrub it down, redo the silicon. No biggie.

bathhelp25 · 29/01/2021 23:30

Hi. Thanks all my kids are always complaining about it. I've lived here 10 years and never really given it much thought but i can't leave it any longer.

I can't believe I used grout. I wondered why it looked so different. Is it bath sealer? What's it called!!

Just dig it out and replace with silicone. I think you can get one that is mould resistant.

Definitely try to get in a little routine of cleaning. It will help your head!

Great that you've had a go though. Keep going!

It's just white silicone @bathhelp25 you can get it in a tube at screwfix or b and q

You need a metal 'gun' to apply it. Both are v cheap.

Scrape/pull it the old silicone (it's rubbery) and fill your bath with water (the water pressure will 'sink' the bath) then reapply fresh silicone and wipe smooth.

Leave water in bath til silicone has set. If you silicone without water in bath then when you fill the bath the weight of the water will pull it down and probably crack the silicone again.

DisappointedOfNorfolk · 30/01/2021 19:49

Go to Screwfix and buy:

Some silicon remover and a plastic scraper, to remove all the old silicon before you reseal it:

https://www.screwfix.com/c/sealants-adhesives/sealant-removers/cat850052?cmsp=managedredirect---sealantsadhesives--sealantremover

Then you'll need one of these:

And some of this:

https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-sanitary-silicone-white-310ml/47187

Then YouTube how to seal a bath, as a past poster said make sure the bath is full and leave the water in and don't use the bath for as long as you can, 24 hours if possible Smile.

LIZS · 30/01/2021 19:53

Or you can get L shaped strips to stick on between bath/wall. Comes on a roll and you cut to size.

Coldhandscoldheart · 30/01/2021 20:10

I have found the L shaped things aren’t really good where they’ll get very wet, they just come off & the water all runs down behind.

Tbh if it’s teenagers complaining I might task them with doing it (it’s not a job that can go very wrong). An old credit/library/travel card can be good to scrape off excess to start with before you run a wet finger over to smooth.
