Fridge shelf has broken. What's the best glue to use?

Just that really.

Any recommendations? I tried gorilla glue and it just broke again. What's the best to use with that clear plastic? Should I just give up and accept it's unfixable and pay £30 or whatever it is for a new one, that will also break?

I would replace, maybe search eBay for a cheaper price

FrippEnos · 31/01/2021 13:52

If you have the money it would better to just replace the shelf.

if you have the time and energy then then epoxy resin is probably the best choice although as with any adhesive you really should add another backing piece underneath to re-enforce the shelf for weight.

StrangerHereMyself · 31/01/2021 13:54

I’d give up and get a new one from eSpares. At least find out how much it would cost - it may not be that much more than a tube of epoxy, and much less risky and annoying.

Why would it also break? What are you doing to your fridge shelves

LOL.

I just put milk in them.

I have no idea why they always break. I bought this new one because I was fed up with the old one breawking all the time.

Can you spread the shelves further apart and do without?

Are you squeezing things onto the shelf so the plastic bows?

SoupDragon · 31/01/2021 13:58

I'd just buy a new shelf. I don't think any repair is going to be as strong as the original shelf unless you put supports to brace it.

I fixed mine with superglue. Mine was the milk shelf also

PlanDeRaccordement · 31/01/2021 17:20

Not sure if legal in U.K., but maybe a local household recycle centre would be willing to let you scavenge one from the broken fridges dropped off to be recycled?

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 31/01/2021 17:59

I recently bought a replacement. It was £26.

IveNameChangedAgain2020 · 31/01/2021 18:36

I've just bought a new shelf and a freezer drawer for £26 from espares. They're brilliant and I've probably replaced all the parts in my fridge freezer through them.
