New condenser dryer not drying clothes

Hi, just wondering if anyone can help. I have a brand new hotpoint condenser dryer and it’s just not drying the clothes. Water collector is empty, the lint filter is clean and it is heating up but the clothes just aren’t drying 🤷‍♀️ I’ve tried reducing the amount of clothes but most are still as wet as they went in! It’s been running for over 3 hours now, please tell me what I’m doing wrong

After 3 hours of should have done something Hmm
Are there different settings you can try? I've got an extra dry setting that I use at the moment (condenser, different make) and it dries in less time, but takes longer on a standard setting. Hope you figure it soon x

Have you checked both lint filters? There is one that draws the air through - you need to blast that with a hose to clean it. It's a safety mechanism on newer models to stop the fires happening.

That doesn't sound right at all. I can dry a load of bedding in about 2 hours in mine.
Is it still under warranty? I would contact Hotpoint I think.
If you do get it to behave, you can use the water from the collector in your iron..stops it from building limescale.

If the water collector is still dry after 3 hours then something is definately wrong.

Are the wet clothes hot? It sounds like it's not condensing and literally steaming the clothes.

Soontobe60 · 26/01/2021 20:17

Which model have you got?

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 26/01/2021 20:18

What make/model is it?

JesusAteMyHamster · 26/01/2021 20:18

It'll be the filter. You'll have a long one that's like a metal grill.......that will need cleaning. Stick it in the shower and hose it out

GravityFalls · 26/01/2021 20:19

Is the water collector bit pushed all the way in? Mine will spin for ages without the unit even in at all which is annoying!

Imiss2019 · 26/01/2021 20:23

Wondering if you’ve got the same one we’ve just bought. It’s friggin crap! I can only dry things on the 1 hour high setting and by running that at least twice. So the only thing I can dry is bedding and towels. The other settings to feck all.
The only difference is our water container fills quite quickly.

SwanShaped · 26/01/2021 20:23

It sounds broken.

Oly4 · 26/01/2021 20:26

If it’s under warranty I’d have the Hotpoint engineer out

boymum9 · 26/01/2021 20:30

It sounds broken...! I've always had condenser dryers (and not expensive ones) and never had an issue, I can dry super king sheets all together in about 1.5 hours in my one right now.

Idaofmarch · 26/01/2021 20:33

We've just got one a d it does a double duvet plus sheets and pillows in 90 mins.
If after 2 hours there's no water then it's not condensing- just heating up wet clothes.
If it's newly fitted I'd get them back to look....

GravityFalls · 26/01/2021 20:36

I actually love my condenser as it’s so efficient - dries everything pretty much on 100 minutes and often is done ages before that. Bone dry too, no damp corners. So it does sound bust if it’s taking so long.

Mrsjayy · 26/01/2021 20:39

It's done contact Hotpoint we had to send a dryer back a few years ago they are totally crap, my candy one just packed in yesterday after 4 years ,🙄

BMSmum · 26/01/2021 21:06

Hi, it’s a hotpoint FETC70B and it was delivered this morning. The clothes are getting warm but just staying wet! It’s on the hot setting. I’ve checked the condenser and there’s no lint in it. I am getting a little bit of water in the collection drawer but not much. I can’t find a second filter for the intake and surely a brand new machine should have clear filters. Some of the clothes are now just dry but it’s still going with the rest in. Many are still just out of the washer wet 😕

Is it in the house and in a warm room. They don't like to be cold. It's why they are so economical as they don't heat up much!! If not in a warm room they don't work

BMSmum · 26/01/2021 21:18

Hi, yes it’s in the house and in my hallway. My previous condenser dryer was a Candy and it worked fine in the same place.

I think you need to contact them it should just switch on and work with no faff , try a half load see how that dries

Soontobe60 · 26/01/2021 22:00

I think priming means you have to run it a couple of times before the water collects. Just put a couple of items in and run it. Them repeat. After that it should work fine.
