Talk to me about eufy (and other) robotic hoovers

Just that really. Are they worth the price tag. What about table/chair legs etc. And toys all over floor presumably won't work well around toy boxes and car tracks etc.
I have a cordless stick cleaner currently and quite happy but obviously have to find time among kids to do it!

Really impressed with my Eufy and use him every day. I have had a robot cleaner before but this is faster. It would be nice to have a bigger waste container but it is just about OK if you empty it after each use.

Table/chair legs are not an issue. If he finds something else on the floor he tends to just push it around in front of him.

The only annoying thing is under the sofa. He does most of it no problem but always gets jammed in the back, most inaccessible corner (I have a large right angled sofa).

I have a Roomba I think 7 series? Which is fab because she is all smart, linked with Alexa and empties herself, so far have just had to change the bag in the base unit once a month (daily use on hard floors with cats & a dog). I make sure the floor is clear and then off she goes. She learns the map of the house and you can label individual rooms so for example if there’s a mess just in the hallway then I can just tap my phone or talk to Computer and she trundles off to sort it out. I proper luffs her.

We have a Eufy. Absolutely love him. He's revolutionised my life. There's a massive thread on here somewhere all about robotic vacuum cleaners. Will try and find it.

friskybivalves · 09/01/2021 21:11

I'm on my second Eufy. Eufy I died after FH submerged him in water for reasons I can't quite work out and it was like losing a limb. Eufy II is Alexa enabled and is a god. Unlike my stupid thuggish Henry who rolls over my buggering foot and falls over the whole time, Eufy trundles about like a silent valet before taking himself back to base for a rest and recharge. He never clogs. He doesn't choke on paperclips that send Henry into paroxysms of wheezing and melodramatic choking. He deals Brilliantly with short dog hair and long DD hair and every other bit of crud on our floors. He doesn't career downstairs after me like an out of control toboggan (unlike Henry when I forget how short his stupid cord is, taking my legs out and attacking my ankles) . Instead he steps back from the cliff edge and continues his sweep of the bedrooms and bathrooms. I love him.

Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3994205-Any-new-Eufy-Robovac-parents-out-there

Here you go - hopefully should answer any questions!

friskybivalves · 09/01/2021 21:14

I find myself watching Eufy at work in a kind of romantic dreamy haze - same way I might once have lusted after Diet Coke Hunk. Eufy ticks my boxes now.

Thank you everyone. Think you have me converted. Just one more question. Does she choke on Lego or ignore/push it around?

I think our Eufy just swallows Lego.... But it's so easy to retrieve, when you take out the tray thing that collects the dirt, it is easy to spot the colourful Lego.

I do a manic tidy up before I release Eufy though. She chokes on shoe laces and cables. She is good with table legs and I love her going under the low sideboard where I cannot get our proper vacuum. She is also great with balls of dog fur.

I have a medium power Roomba that I bought 4 years ago. It works great on flat surfaces. I usually just run this in the big hallway and living room. I can't say that I chose the gadget carefully, but I can advise you to read the review article here. I would not choose something expensive for daily use. It seems to me that most of these vacuum cleaners work in about the same way.

RhubarbTea · 17/01/2021 21:40

I love my eufy and am so glad we got him, although I haven't hoovered my stairs since late November when he arrived which is disgusting. I can't bring myself to get out the actual hoover and lug it up there.

Only drawbacks to eufy is he doesn't much like tasselled rugs, gets stuck in the lowered footwell near the front door and sometimes wedged under the sofa. But who cares! He DOES THE HOOVERING so I don't have to, and I couldn't give a toss. I love him.

Scarcity20 · 17/01/2021 21:48

Yes love my eufy too! You get to know what they get stuck on so just remove these things first. I do still use my Henry occasionally and find it's the quickest less messy way to empty eufys tray too! Sucks everything out and cleans filter a bit as Henry is so powerful. Also every few days use scissors to clear the roller as hairs and string can build up and stop it working properly

GnarlyOldGoatDude · 17/01/2021 21:54

I feel bad writing this, but I bought an Eufy after reading the threads on MN, and wasn’t very impressed Blush

It got caught in our curtains, was much slower than I thought it would be, and didn’t clean our carpets upstairs very well at all.

I so desperately wanted to love it, but alas it just didn’t match the dream for me

LochJessMonster · 17/01/2021 21:57

Not impressed.
I have to fold up all the rugs, pick up all the toys and move furniture and by the time I’ve done that I might as well run the hoover round myself.

RMRM · 17/01/2021 22:00

I particularly love Eufy for kitchen, hall and under the dining table. You do have to do a sweep for leads and laces etc or it will get stuck. I regularly leave it to sort the kitchen out while I get on with something else. Absolutely love it.

balzamico · 17/01/2021 22:03

I love my eufy for the main playroom, hall and kitchen which are all hard floors.
It runs every day while I walk the dog and the amount of muck it collects daily is horrifying amazing.
I don't use it so often in the front room as there are more cables and it gets stuck under furniture but will run it in there if I'm around to keep an eye on it.
