My old shark (4 yrs old) has died and after reading a thread on here I'm worried newer ones aren't as reliable. After a much repented purchase of a highly recommended Amazon replacement (which has minimal suction left after a few weeks of use!) I'm wary of making another mistake - help!

Ooh @HyggeHeart I was going to start a thread about this but I thought I’d check first if anyone else had! Can I share yours?! I have a Henry who has great suction but is far too heavy and cumbersome, particularly for stairs and carrying around.

I was going to get a shark but that recent thread about it getting blocked really put me off.

Hello @Orchidflower1 , yes please come and share :) . I think we must have been reading the same thread. Thank you for the bump hopefully we'll get some good advice/recommendations, fingers crossed!

I had an amazing vax which had a 7 year guarantee. I sent it back to be repaired when the brush bar broke but instead of repairing they sent me a replacement - it’s newer model which is sadly nowhere near as good. I’m

I’m looking out for another corded vac to replace it. We had a Miele cat and dog in the past which was pretty good but it’s a cylinder vac.

My Sebo is great. It cleans well, it's easy to replace the bag without spilling dust everywhere, and if ever there's a blockage, it's quite simple to remove it.

cobblers123 · 31/12/2020 13:18

I bought a Sebo five years ago, the bag holds an awful lot before you need to change it and I have a very hairy cat who sheds constantly, so it certainly works hard. It's quite heavy to lift but very light to use. I wouldn't go back to bagless if you paid me now.

We have had SEBOs . They are good and reliable. The main problem is that they are heavy to carry upstairs.

Cynderella · 31/12/2020 16:34

We've had a Shark for a year now and not had any problems with it. Prefer it to Dysons and Mieles we've had in the past.

Orchidflower1 · 01/01/2021 07:46

I’ve not heard of a sebo before - are they as heavy as a Henry do you think?

I’ve looked at the pet vax - looks good .

yikesanotherbooboo · 01/01/2021 08:47

I'm not sure about the comparison with a Henry re weight but an upright is easier to carry about than a cylinder/ Henry.its heavier than a Dyson but bits of plastic don't keep falling off .

Orchidflower1 · 01/01/2021 16:34

@HyggeHeart I’ve bitten the bullet. Gone for the vac pet one that lifts off. Is it odd that I’m excited for it to arrive? I feel like it’s a late Christmas present to myself!!

Lilac95 · 01/01/2021 16:44

We’ve just bought a dyson animal ball 2. I have the old animal that died, replaced with two cheap vacs that did nothing and died within 6 months. This new dyson is fab! £300 but worth it the stuff that came out of my carpet was disgusting, I will
Never not buy a dyson

Sebo

Cynderella · 03/01/2021 23:02

I wouldn't go for a Vax - they don't seem to last from what I've seen from other people's experience. Have tried to love Dysons but find, unlike Sharks, they're not so good once you've had them a little while. So far, the Shark is impressing and I'd stick with them, but I have heard good things about Sebos from people who have them.
